Amsterdam was the host city of the European Robotics Week 2016, with the central event “Robots at your Service”, focussed around the societal challenge of “Active & Healthy Ageing”. An elderly-centric event with the purpose to tackle the problems that arise from the growing ageing population through the use of Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics & Artificial Intelligence (AI).

2. The European Robo.cs Week (ERW) was conceived at the European Robo.cs Forum
2011 by the desire of the European Robo.cs community to bring robo)cs research &
development closer to the public and to build the future Robo)cs Society.
This year the ERW’s Central Event is wrapped around the .tle ‘Robots at your Service’;
a public event focused on the use of robo.cs to tackle one of the greatest societal
challenges1 of the 21st Century; the challenge of ‘Ac)ve & Healthy Ageing’.
