Abstract: This talk will provide a technical overview of Spark’s DataFrame API in the context of data science, from exploratory data analysis to ETL to machine learning. We will review the API with a demo using a real-world dataset, covering data input/output, summary statistics, missing data handling, and statistical functions. We will then dive into the internals of DataFrame implementations, followed by how we view DataFrame in the long-term Spark roadmap and ecosystem. Bio: Reynold Xin is a cofounder of Databricks and a committer on Apache Spark, driving the design of Spark's next-gen API and execution engine. He holds the current world record in 100TB sorting (Daytona GraySort), beating the previous record by a factor of 3. On leave from his PhD at the UC Berkeley AMPLab, he also wrote the highest cited papers in SIGMOD 2011 and SIGMOD 2013.

A talk given at SemTechBiz 2014 in San Jose that follows up on the tool originally presented at the 2012 conference. Talks about the limitations we've encountered with the original tool and how we've evolved it to address these and build a more robust general purpose and open source SPARQL testing tool. The tool is available on SourceForge in pre-built form at http://sourceforge.net/projects/sparql-query-bm/ or as code on SourceForge or GitHub (https://github.com/rvesse/sparql-query-bm)

Efficient federated query processing is of significant importance to tame the large amount of data available on the Web of Data. Previous works have focused on generating optimized query execution plans for fast result retrieval. However, devising source selection approaches beyond triple pattern-wise source selection has not received much attention. This work presents HiBISCuS, a novel hypergraph-based source selection approach to federated SPARQL querying. Our approach can be directly combined with existing SPARQL query federation engines to achieve the same recall while querying fewer data sources. We extend three well-known SPARQL query federation engines with HiBISCus and compare our extensions with the original approaches on FedBench. Our evaluation shows that HiBISCuS can efficiently reduce the total number of sources selected without losing recall. Moreover, our approach significantly reduces the execution time of the selected engines on most of the benchmark queries.

Web search engines like Google have made us all smarter by providing ready access to the world's knowledge whenever we need to look up a fact, learn about a topic or evaluate opinions. The W3C's Semantic Web effort aims to make such knowledge more accessible to computer programs by publishing it in machine understandable form. <p> As the volume of Semantic Web data grows software agents will need their own search engines to help them find the relevant and trustworthy knowledge they need to perform their tasks. We will discuss the general issues underlying the indexing and retrieval of RDF based information and describe Swoogle, a crawler based search engine whose index contains information on over a million RDF documents. <p> We will illustrate its use in several Semantic Web related research projects at UMBC including a distributed platform for constructing end-to-end use cases that demonstrate the semantic web’s utility for integrating scientific data. We describe ELVIS (the Ecosystem Location Visualization and Information System), a suite of tools for constructing food webs for a given location, and Triple Shop, a SPARQL query interface which searches the Semantic Web for data relevant to a given query ELVIS functionality is exposed as a collection of web services, and all input and output data is expressed in OWL, thereby enabling its integration with Triple Shop and other semantic web resources.

myequivalents is a system to manage cross-references between entities that can be identified by pairs composed of a service name (e.g., EBI's ArrayExpress, Wikipedia) and an accession (e.g., E-MEXP-2514, Barack_Obama). For those familiar with the Semantic Web, we plan to support identification of entities via URIs and the owl:sameAs property. For those who already know MIRIAM and identifiers.org, myequivalents is more general than them and we plan to support these services in future.

With more memory available, system performance of three Dell devices increased, which can translate to a better user experience Conclusion When your system has plenty of RAM to meet your needs, you can efficiently access the applications and data you need to finish projects and to-do lists without sacrificing time and focus. Our test results show that with more memory available, three Dell PCs delivered better performance and took less time to complete the Procyon Office Productivity benchmark. These advantages translate to users being able to complete workflows more quickly and multitask more easily. Whether you need the mobility of the Latitude 5440, the creative capabilities of the Precision 3470, or the high performance of the OptiPlex Tower Plus 7010, configuring your system with more RAM can help keep processes running smoothly, enabling you to do more without compromising performance.

Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/why-teams-call-analytics-is-critical-to-your-entire-business Nothing is as frustrating and noticeable as being in an important call and being unable to see or hear the other person. Not surprising then, that issues with Teams calls are among the most common problems users call their helpdesk for. Having in depth insight into everything relevant going on at the user’s device, local network, ISP and Microsoft itself during the call is crucial for good Microsoft Teams Call quality support. To ensure a quick and adequate solution and to ensure your users get the most out of their Microsoft 365. But did you know that ‘bad calls’ are also an excellent indicator of other problems arising? Precisely because it is so noticeable!? Like the canary in the mine, bad calls can be early indicators of problems. Problems that might otherwise not have been noticed for a while but can have a big impact on productivity and satisfaction. Join this session by Christoph Adler to learn how true Microsoft Teams call quality analytics helped other organizations troubleshoot bad calls and identify and fix problems that impacted Teams calls or the use of Microsoft365 in general. See what it can do to keep your users happy and productive! In this session we will cover - Why CQD data alone is not enough to troubleshoot call problems - The importance of attributing call problems to the right call participant - What call quality analytics can do to help you quickly find, fix-, and prevent problems - Why having retrospective detailed insights matters - Real life examples of how others have used Microsoft Teams call quality monitoring to problem shoot problems with their ISP, network, device health and more.
