2. Why do I want to be a teacher?
• Teaching makes me happier than anything else in the
world.
• The most ecstatic moment of my life is when I see
learning take place in my students.
• I get thrilled when my students get the joy of learning.
I want to be the bringer of that joy.
• Teaching is my true calling.

5. I am an existentialist in terms of …
the nature on the learner.
the goal of education.
appropriate learning occurrence.
the role of the teacher.
the preferred teaching method.
6. I am a perennialist in terms of …
▫ how education should provide for the needs of
man.
▫ what should be the environment of education.
▫ what the curriculum should include.
7. I am also a partial progressivist.
• I agree that a teacher is a guide rather than an
authoritarian in the classroom.
• I think one role of a teacher is to help students
learn how to learn by themselves.
“I want to be a light illuminating them to see what they
have not seen before and all the directions they can go.”
8. My View on Learners and Learning
▫ Learning itself should be a joy.
▫ There is no one right way or method of learning that
is universally applicable.
▫ Every learner has a capability of learning.
▫ The difference lies in whether they have found their
own right way.
9. My Mission as a Teacher is…
▫ to awaken students to their potential and hence
to facilitate their choice.
▫ to promote students’ autonomous critical
thinking.
