This document describes a project to develop design guidelines and performance specifications for revegetating a 60-acre former military base and National Park maintenance site in northern California. The project involved surveying the site, removing existing paving, structures and invasive species, and developing a revegetation plan to replant the site with native species to regenerate forest, scrub and prairie habitats. The plan located invasive species, described removal methods, distinguished 11 revegetation zones, and made planting recommendations for each zone.

SITE: 60-acre site on northern California coast, originally developed as
a military base but recently used for maintenance of Redwood National
and State Parks. This ambitious project aimed to return the site to
natural conditions, removing paving, structures, and invasive exotic
vegetation, and replanting with native species, to allow regeneration
of spruce-alder forest, coastal scrub, and coastal prairie habitats. The
revegetation plan located areas of invasive species, described methods
of removal for each species, distinguished 11 revegetation zones, and
made planting recommendations specific to each zone.
