2. Lever. A lever is stiff bar that rests on a support called a fulcrum which lifts or moves
loads. This picture shows two kids playing on seesaw which is a lever. I know this is a
lever because you can see the fulcrum under the silver pole.
3. This is inclined plane. A inclined plane is a slanting surface connecting a lower level to a
higher level. This picture shows a ramp which helps people or things get up better.
If you did not have an inclined plane you would have to carry the stuff .
4. This is a Pulley. A pulley is a simple machine that uses grooved wheel and a rope to raise
lower or move a load. This picture shows a boy pulling a rope to make the flag rise . the
rope is the pulley because it is pulling up the flag.
5. This a screw. A screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a pole which holds things
together or lifts materials. This shows the screw at the bottom of the chair. Its spinning
the chair.
6. This is a wedge. A wedge is an object with at least one slanting side ending in a sharp
edge. This picture shows a wedge blocking the door. The wedge is holding the door. The
pointy part of the wedge goes under the door so when the wind moves the door it
doesn’t close it because there will be no more room for it to go up.
7. This is wheel and axle. A wheel with a rod called, a wheel and axle , through its center
lifts or moves loads. I chose this picture because a motorcycle it has a wheel and axle.
The wheel and axle are helping the wheels move.
