- This morning, we are going to look at the graduation requirements here at Agora. Agora is a credit based school, which means you need to obtain a certain amount of credits in order to graduate. This means you could be in High School until you are 21 if you have not obtained the credits needed to graduate. Our main mission as a school is to provide you with a quality education and prepare you for life after High School – not solely to hand you a diploma – although that is always a plus!
- Push out to students the Graduation Requirements Handout, and Checklist for the Quarter Handout.Application share the Graduation Requirements Handout.Review the sheet, highlighting subject areas and credit requirements.
- Review these questions with the class based on the Reality Check handout and knowledge about school.1.) Stress that CREDIT is only obtained by PASSING the course. If you do not pass, you do not receive credit which can cause you to have to retake the class and that you may not be promoted to the next grade level. Emphasize that being in High School for 4 years that not mean you are going to be a senior and graduate.
