Peter Rabbit disobeyed his mother by entering Mr. McGregor's garden while she was away. In the garden, Peter ate vegetables but was spotted by Mr. McGregor, who chased him. Peter escaped but lost his jacket in the process. Exhausted from the ordeal, Peter returned home where his mother nursed him back to health with camomile tea while his sisters enjoyed a meal.

5. When Peter got into the garden he ate some lettuce, french beans and radishes.

7. Poor Peter ! Peter ran into a gooseberry net, he got caught by the large buttons on his jacket.

8. Peter wiggled away, but he left his jacket behind. Then he hid in a watering can

9. Presently Peter sneezed – “Kertyshoo!” Mr. McGregor was after him in no time.

10. Poor Peter was lost. He saw a white cat with a twitching tail, and crept past her.

11. Suddenly, he heard the scr-r-ritch, scratch noise of a hoe. There was Mr. McGregor, and beyond him was the gate!

12. Peter ran as fast as he could, slipped under the gate, and was safe at last.

13. His mother put him to bed with a dose of camomile tea, but his sisters had bread and milk and blackberries for supper.
