1. THEMATIC TEACHING
 This is a way of teaching
whereby areas of the
curriculum are connected
together and integrated
within a theme.
• In an approach to
language of teaching
that focuses, not on
the language itself but
rather on what is
being taught through
the language, that is
the language becomes
a medium through
which something new
is learned.
This integrative
teaching strategy uses
questions in which the
teacher guide the
learners in discovering
the answers
Is a part of Integrative
teaching strategies which
enable students to develop
“Competencies”. These
competencies are acquired
through connecting one
subject from the other.
Successful teachers who incorporate modes of
integrative teaching in their classrooms play the
following roles.
 CONNECTION EXPERTS and not Subject experts –
select theme and examines subject areas and
respective materials interlinked with the theme.
 LEARNING STRATEGISTS- use innovative teaching
techniques and strategies.
 Multimedia Specialists- create and use audio and
visual materials which will be used in the diverse
learning tasks in their classes.
Not knowledge gatekeepers and
meaning makers but guides and
facilitators of students’ own meaning
making.
Creative Evaluators- Use creative
assessment tools in order to get the
true pictures of the students’ learning
since an integrative class needs
complex performance that could not
be measured by mere standardized
and paper-and-pencil tests.

Teacher Roles in the Modes of Integrative Teaching

  • 2. 1. THEMATIC TEACHING  This is a way of teaching whereby areas of the curriculum are connected together and integrated within a theme.
  • 3. • In an approach to language of teaching that focuses, not on the language itself but rather on what is being taught through the language, that is the language becomes a medium through which something new is learned.
  • 4. This integrative teaching strategy uses questions in which the teacher guide the learners in discovering the answers
  • 5. Is a part of Integrative teaching strategies which enable students to develop “Competencies”. These competencies are acquired through connecting one subject from the other.
  • 6. Successful teachers who incorporate modes of integrative teaching in their classrooms play the following roles.  CONNECTION EXPERTS and not Subject experts – select theme and examines subject areas and respective materials interlinked with the theme.  LEARNING STRATEGISTS- use innovative teaching techniques and strategies.  Multimedia Specialists- create and use audio and visual materials which will be used in the diverse learning tasks in their classes.
  • 7. Not knowledge gatekeepers and meaning makers but guides and facilitators of students’ own meaning making. Creative Evaluators- Use creative assessment tools in order to get the true pictures of the students’ learning since an integrative class needs complex performance that could not be measured by mere standardized and paper-and-pencil tests.
