WEDDING DANCE
PLOT
The story started with a married couple, Awiyao and Lumnay, who were
separating for the reason that they could not have a baby even if they have been
married for so long. Awiyao, the husband, has to marry another woman
(Madulimay) despite the fact that he is still in love with his wife, Lumnay. It is
because of their tribe’s tradition that if a couple could not bear a child together,
they need to separate in order for the man to find a woman who could bear him a
son that could continue his lineage in his tribe for a child is considered as a sign
of manhood in their tribe.
SETTING
In one of the mountainous provinces in the northern Philippines
CHARACTER
Awiyao- the Husband stated in the short story.
Lumnay- the wife of Awiyao. The woman who was left by her husband (Awiyao)
because she cannot bear a child.
Madulimay- Awiyao's new wife.

2. ATMOSPHEREThe mood of this story is sad because Lumnay and Awiyao love each other but
they could not have a baby so Awiyao need to marry another woman.

3. FAITH, LOVE, TIME AND DR. LAZARO
PLOT
The story’s beginning already shows that there is a conflict encountered by Dr.
Lazaro. It shows that the conflict has something to do with Dr. Lazaro’s
profession and faith. There is, however a suspense whether Dr. Lazaro would be
able to save baby’s life. When Dr. Lazaro gave up on the baby, Ben baptized it
and believing that it will not see God if it will not be baptized. The event of the
story is not predictable.
SETTING
The story took place in the house of Dr. Lazaro and in the hut of Esteban and his
family.
CHARACTER
Dr. Lazaro- the main character of the story. The story revolves around him.
Ben- the son of Dr. Lazaro who Dr. Lazaro wanted to be a doctor but Ben wanted
otherwise. He wanted to be a priest. He is very eager to be of help as Dr. Lazaro
observed of him. He willingly drove for Dr. Lazaro.
Wife of Dr. Lazaro- She is the religious wife of Dr. Lazaro. In the story she did
nothing to persuade or convince Dr. Lazaro to redeem his faith again maybe
because of respect, the same thing that holds Dr. Lazaro.
Esteban and family- Esteban is the father of the baby who Dr. Lazaro tries to
save. When Dr. Lazaro declared that he had everything the mother cried but the
old woman said “it is the will of God, my daughter”. When Dr. Lazaro bid goodbye
Esteban said “I shall be grateful always doctor”, “and to your son too, God be
with you”. It only show how religious and faithful these people are.
