The DigiLit Leicester Project was a two-year collaboration between Leicester City Council, De Montfort University, and 23 Leicester schools. The project aimed to develop secondary school staff digital literacy through implementing a self-evaluation framework. Key activities included a literature review, developing a framework and surveys, conducting surveys in 2013 and 2014, and providing recommendations and school activities. The project resulted in significant cultural change around digital literacy, engagement with all schools, and a statistically significant change in staff confidence with digital skills.

- The project has brought about significant cultural change in its approach to the use of technology to support learning, teaching and community development. All 23 BSF schools have engaged with the project. In relation to the survey findings and recommendations, the DigiLit team have led on six events and projects, and 21 school-led projects have been undertaken to date. The project is formally structured as a Knowledge Exchange Partnership between Leicester City Council and De Montfort University, and is supporting a new digital literacy strategy and implementation plan within the University. The project has raised awareness of potential practices, created a shared understanding of digital literacy situated in practice, and has supported collaborative practice across the 23 schools in Leicester. Analysis comparing the survey data from 2013 and 2014 shows that a statistically significant change in staff confidence has occurred. All of the projects outputs, including the project approach and methodology, research findings and recommendations, and information and resources relating to project activities, have been collected and released with a Creative Commons licence: http://www.digilitleic.com/
