2. • The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of
Law, the law school of Yeshiva University
in New York City, is well-known in both
legal and academic circles for its strong
focus on practical training in the law. Of
Cardozo Law’s many programs to focus on
applied, hands-on, immersive education, the
Intensive Trial Advocacy Program (ITAP) is
one of the most popular.
3. • Held each January, ITAP is a rigorous twoweek course that focuses on strategies and
techniques for courtroom litigation.
Adopting a “master class” learning
approach, ITAP fully immerses its students
in the art of trial practice. Participants
interview and prepare witnesses, practice
cross and direct examinations, select juries,
deal with issues relating to evidence, and
prepare and present jury and bench trials.
The course culminates in a full jury trial
conducted by the students.
4. • One of the most significant benefits of ITAP
is the opportunity it offers students to
receive feedback from real-life lawyers and
judges. These professional experts critique
the students’ work throughout every step of
the program and offer
personalized, individual reviews of recorded
student performances. Some of the country’s
most highly regarded jurists and lawyers
have participated in ITAP since the
program’s inception.
