After launching in Portland, San Francisco Bay Area, and New York City, Google has announced they'll
be expanding "Google Offers" to five more areas: Austin, Boston, Washington D.C., Denver and Seattle.
The Google Offers program works much like Groupon or LivingSocial -- it is email based and directs
potential customers to exclusive deals in their respective areas.
Offers speaks to Google's much talked-about "mobile first" strategy. The search giant has made it clear
that integration amongst its many products will be fused via mobile solutions. Google Places has dropped
third-party reviews to isolate its presence as the primary local portal. Integration between Places,
Checkout and AdWords, therein, is being worked out as we speak. The next step for Google will be
Google Wallet, a mobile app via the Android Market that makes your phone your wallet. (More to come on
Wallet soon.)
How Google Offers works:
1. Subscribe - Subscribe to Google Offers and you'll receive email notification alerts on exclusive deals
from local businesses.
2. Purchase - Purchase "deals" directly through the Google Offers site. Google will then send a
confirmation email and a link to your voucher.
3. Redeem - Enjoy your deal by redeeming your voucher, either printed or mobile, at the featured
business.
To subscribe, click here: Per the publication of this blog post, Google has yet to update the "Subscribe"
drop-down. But, rest assured, "Offers" will be coming soon.
