PEIR (Personal Environmental Impact Report) is a sensing application developed at UCLA that allows you to use your mobile phone to explore and share how you impact the environment and how the environment impacts you. It doesn’t rely on demographics for calculating the carbon impact, but it uses location data from mobile phones to calculate a dynamic report of the environmental impact. It detects if the user is walking or driving and calculates the CO2 and particulates depending on the car model, the weather, the road type, the time of the day.
