Ruff McTuffen was born into a wealthy family in the UK but became fascinated with crime from a young age. He studied drug law in university and spent four years undercover with a Mexican drug cartel. Unable to get his book about the experience published, he took small acting jobs. Presenters Ben and Jordan befriended him and brought him on as their resident crime expert for a documentary about local gangs in Canford Heath. Ruff will provide insights from his criminal contacts and experience to assess the gangs and their ongoing conflict.

Ruff was born in Worsestershishshichire to the richMcTuffen family.
When he was three, the familymovedto Cambridge so that his father
could expandhis business. It was during this longdrive inthe Bentley
Continental that Ruff sawthe criminalunderbellyof societythroughthe
hazytintedglass his dadhadinstalled(he richafter all). Couple this with
his discoveryof the programmesStorage Hunters and Traffic Cops andhe
became fascinated withwhypeoplecommittedcrimes. Thisinterest
continuedthroughhis school years.
When he turnedeighteen he saidgoodbye to the familysilktie empire
(despite onlyhaving one main customer namedAdam) his father built
and moved downto the Southto studyDrug Lawat Boscombe University;
graduating in2007 with full honours. However, he alsoleft with the
contact details ofEnrico Guansupoliwhopromisedhima meeting with
the infamous inthe Pochettinodrugcartel, deepinthe Mexicanfavelas.
After a spellof four years undercover, Ruff put his newfoundknowledge
of the gang intoa book. However, no publishers wouldgreen light the
book. Without the success he dreamof andwith nomoneyinhispocket,
Ruff took a job as an extra in Prison Breakin 2009;playingcharacters
such as ‘the guywiththe tattoothat dies that one time’.
Presenters Jordan and Benwere great fans of the showand, whenthey
heard that the cast were reuniting for a panel at a comic book store in
Philadelphia, theycouldn’t wait to go. It waswhile at thispanel that Ben
and Jordan got to speakto Ruff(since all the other actors fromthe show
were actuallystill successful, theycouldn’t stayfor chit chat) andhada
long conversationabout their interests incrime study. Now Ben, Jordan
and Ruffare all verygoodfriends and theyoftenspendWednesday
lunchtimes mauling over the last weeks’ pot of Bovril andcoconut
snowballs.
And Ruff is now wellon the wayto self publishing hisbook.
