This narrative essay describes the author's personal experiences with receiving an unexpected diagnosis of endometriosis at age 17, requiring surgery that removed one of her ovaries without consent. Ten months later, the political situation in her home country of Venezuela had deteriorated, forcing her family to immigrate to the U.S. where she had to restart her medical training. Despite these challenges, her passion for medicine and helping underserved populations gave her the strength to continue pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor.

My dad always says, "bravery is being afraid and doing it anyway." Until the age of 15, I had
never stepped into a school, until one day, I gathered my courage and began my academic
journey. I was homeschooled for most of my young life. While I studied the standard subjects, I
was able to learn in an environment completely free and focused on me. It was an amazing and
unique way to grow up, but it was also a bubble. I was unaware of much of the world around me,
and as someone who was, at the time, quite shy, never really explored. I spent the first semester of
highschool in an online program, but I did not like it and decided to transfer. I knew nothing
about public school, and starting a new school half way through the year was a huge risk. I knew it
was going to be difficult and scary, but I also knew it would help me grow as a person....show more

The environment was completely foreign, I had never even been around so many kids in one
place, I had never been in a classroom, and I knew my life was about to change. The entire act of
transferring schools was, in itself, a risk. Despite never setting foot in a school before, I decided
to take the most advanced classes available. This proved to be a stressful decision but it was also
a risk that paid off. Deciding to pursue my academic ambitions despite being in a new
environment set me on a trajectory to continue to take academic risks and follow my dreams. It
also pushed me to develop skills and connections that now allow me to take some of the most
difficult classes at my school as well as conduct scientific research at

At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward
reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure
but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very
basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit
discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I
enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in
my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into

You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the
same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was
intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing
are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't
personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the
most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and
professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to
write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to.
Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am
assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find
myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this
would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the
majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and
therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume
every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the

Everyone have "Problem" which are invisible. Therefore, the narrative practice is using narrative
skills on stories and storytelling to look for their "Problem". Everyone may have different stories
about themselves, struggles, competencies, actions, desires, relationships, work, interests, conquests,

A narrative makes the events link up together and forms a story. When I heard from Morgan, I

In my understanding, I think narrative practice is one of the counseling methods which is helping
the clients to find out the externalize problems throughout the conservations to tell the story of them

When the dominant stories affect the daily life, then it needed to solve the problems by using their

crowed was electrified and cheering us on. I thought about all the hard work the coaches put us
through doing two a days and keeping us late after a hard practice, spending all of that time and
hard work just for this one little moment when the game was on the line. Back to reality our
quarterback had started the play and it looked like it was going nowhere and we might have to got

kept our eye on the prize and came through in the moment when the game was on the line. Nobody

A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a
message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are
written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the
writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which
the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it
all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main
events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to

This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me
that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it
taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When
choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and
shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for
my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to
Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to

this time, I did not even know what a narrative was. Ms. Bradley explained that a narrative was an
account or story of events. It could be either true or false. Our narrative had to be true. It had to be
a true account of something that happened to us over the summer. She wanted to gauge how are
writing skills were. Our narrative had to be at least two to two and a half pages long. I chose to

On 2/29/16 at 1130 hours I Jessika Musquiz was dispatched to 148 Suzie St regarding a petty theft.
I arrived at 1150 hours and met with victim, Maria Garcia who told me the following. At 1120
hours Garcia arrived at her friend's house and parked her car in the parking lot. She went into her
friend's house for 5–10 minutes. She returned to her vehicle and noticed her iPod was missing. She
called the police. Garcia described the missing property as mini black iPod with white headphones
attached. Valued at 60 dollars. I examined the vehicle and noticed no broken windows or no damage
done to the locks. Garcia realized she may have left the doors to the vehicle unlocked. No further
action taken.
