2. The result from question 1 displays that
most of the people who answered my
survey are in the age category ’15-21’.
This may suggest that I need to aim my
magazine primarily at this age range.
Because it is the most popular, I will try
to base the text, images and content
around this information. I will include
information that is current to modern
artists and include information
appealing to younger generation of
adults. However I will not disregard that
some of my audience is above 25, so I
will still include information for that
particular age category.
3. From this data I can perceive that there is a close distinction between ‘Celebrity on the front cover’ and ‘Cover
stories’ with cover stories being the most faveriouble. This has helped me to understand what my audience want on
a music magazine front cover. This will make me focus on the cover stories, trying to make them as interesting as
possible and that I have some form of famous individual on the front cover. Although ‘Masthead’ has no responses, I
will not banish it from importance, I will still use my ideas for my title and font style, making it the best possible. In
conclusion I now know what I have to prioritise in order to receive my audience.
4. This data illustrates to me that ‘Faded
blue’ and ‘Grey and black’ are the most
popular colour choices. This will give me
the guidance to use these two colour
schemes in my final work. I will most
likely ty to use ‘grey and black 'due to its
professional look and incorporate at the
same time, the other colour types.
Keeping my audience happy.
5. This data demonstrates to me that the majority of people would pay up to £5 for a music
magazine which advises me to set my price around that mark. I think, as well as others that
this is a good number to set my price at. Instead of £5, I will use a method called
physiological pricing, which many others use and set my price at £4.99 to make it look
cheaper than it is; trying to obtain more customers.
6. From this data I can see that the majority of my audience Is male (nearly 60%). This would
suggest to me that I should target me magazine to mainly men, however I am going to
exclude this factor, as still a large majority are women and I do not want to have a sexist
view in my magazine. Targeting both male and female also will hopefully increase sale
numbers because there is a wider audience.
7. It is clearly denoted in the results
that the people from my survey
would like the magazine to
include not only music related
stories, but about other forms of
media, such as film and
photography. I think this is good
because it makes the magazine
more varied and generally more
interesting, so I will include these
forms on my magazine.
8. A very low percentage of people
taking my survey would not like to
read the magazine digitally. Meaning
that I would mainly be producing my
magazine in hard copies mostly.
However I could publish a digital copy
on a e-book website as over a quarter
do want this option. This gives me the
freedom and option to do either one
or the other or both.
9. Nearly all of my audience live in the Europe, which is extremely handy as it means that I do
not have to publish separate copies for those in different continents as this would prove to
be very costly, especially for a start up magazine. I would have t ignore the 5%in Africa due
to the limited numbers.
10. Photography and film are both leading
categories in my questionnaire, giving e
the opportunity to include both within
my magazine if I want to. However
more people were generally interested
in film as 11% said that they would not
like photography within the magazine,
so I will probable just choose film.
11. Most people would not like to subscribe
to an annual magazine. I think this is
because of the high initial costs that
magazines charge even with discounts. If
I was to offer an annual option I would
set the price lower to attract more sales
and change the statistics from my survey
to more Yes’.
