Analysis of the area
The assignment requires to find the sustainable problems in the Odal area and to find good solutions
to them. To create a design proposal which would have a strong concept and modern solutions for the
sustainable community. The Odal district is mainly residential surrounded by industrial areas. The area
has no public places, so people mostly stay at home. The famous ‘Scania’ meat factory is located just in
the corner of the neighborhood, which decreases the value of the area.

The area west of the railway in Lund is
undergoing change. Land use is intensi-
fied and new buildings are planned. The
station area will increase its importance as
a hub for public transport. What demands
would be set on the public space with
changing patterns of movement? The task
is to describe a transect of maximum 1,5
km of the area from periphery to the town
center.
13. Analysis of the area
Green areas Built characterParking situation
Problems found:
The railway track separates the area from the city center. Because of that reason
the area is not popular among tourists. As the city of Lund was expanding, the
suburban area, which is located on the western side of the railway, slowly blended
into the city of Lund and became one of the residential areas of Lund. Nowadays
this area is popular among students, because of the lower rents. Therefore the
area used to be a very important industrial zone, which is built with massive factory
buildings, with the big empty gaps in between. The area is not friendly for pedes-
trians or for the cyclists. However it has a lot of potential.

The purpose of the hotel is to host athletes and visitors for the
coming ‘Youth olympic games 2014’ in Nanjing, China. A hotel
is located in The Youth Olympic Sports Park, where a part of
olympic games are planned to be hosted here. A purpose of a
project was to design the landscape of the hotel surroundings,
which would integrate with the design of The Youth Olympic
Sports Park. A conceptual design proposal for the surroundings
of the hotel is able to entrtain visitors of the olympics and pro-
vide them with various facilities.

The task was to design an exhibition park which
represents eco life and culture of the Yangtze Riv-
er. An exhibition site is located on the right bank
of the Yangtze river in Binjiang town, China. The
design idea was to create a park with educational
background, where people would get a common
knowledge about the ecosystem of Yangtze River. A
design concept was developed from a life of a puff-
erfish, which lives in Yangtze River. The landscape
represents different stages of its life and different

The house is designed for nomads who can carry their house-
together with them or to find the instant dwelling for their tempo-
rary stay without the need of caring anything except of personal
stuff. But mainly it can be used to accommodate big amount of
people during an event. The main benefit is that it can be picked
out into 4-5 separate boxes and two whole houses can be fitted
into a one trail and removed to another place and easily rebuild.
Each of room-box can be easily split wall by wall and create smaller
box for transportation and not to carry empty space in the trail
trunk.

LEPO PRODUCT OY is a finnish comapny,
which sells and manufactures design
furniture for public interiors. The
factory locates in Villähde near Lahti
city, Finland. The main important
export countries are within EU.
The task was to create a chair which
would be comfortable to work with
notebook and also to rest. It should be
comfortable and stylish. It couldb as
one peace but preferable that it could
connect into one big segment of chairs.
I created a chair which is elegant with
soft curves. It is lightweight because
its construction is made from stainless
steel and wood. Seating place is filled
with upholstery and covered with fabric
or leather.
It is a practical furniture, which is
suitable for both: public and private
interiors.

in the design process. The task was to create a wooden stool,

stool is easy to carry because of special pattern carved on every
