1. UK Horse Racing Form Analysis - Betting School in UK
Past PerformanceStudy is the art of analysing the past performances of a horse to ascertain the
likelihood of it winningtoday's race.
I say art because many of the best form students cannot clearly explain how they formed a specific
selection and much of the time they get a feeling for the expected outcome having viewed the Form of
all horses in the event.
The variables most commonly reviewed are as follows...
The going. This is the condition of the surface that the horses will be running on today, the aim is to
ascertain whether each horse runs well in the current conditions.
For example if the ground today is firm, has it won or placed on firm ground previously and if so was it in
a race of a similar strength.
Track. Many horses have a liking for a particular type of course. This may be to do with their bodily make
up, eg a small sprinty type horse may prefer a tight track, whereas a big stamina powerful horse may
prefer an open galloping type course.
Horses may also demonstrate a partiality for left handed or right handed courses.
Weights. This is a big one. In the UK many races are handicapped by way of weights carried by the
horses. So a quality horse is given more weight to carry so it has the same chance as a not so good
horse.
These weights are decided with reference to the horses Official Rating (OR) which is the jockey clubs
assessment of how good the horse is. The form student needs to determine whether the OR is equitable
and whether the horse is capable of running well under the assigned weight.
Rider. Is the jockey having a good run, has he ridden this horse before, how well has this horse
performed with this rider.
2. Trainer. Trainers can be very predictable, consistently doing well in the same types of events and at the
same times of year. If you know your trainer well it is likely that you will know how well he will do in
todays race.
If you read the betting school in uk Post you can also collect a lot of alternative views and ratings from
so called gurus which can go into the melting pot to help determine your selection.
Although I would advise against placing too much significance on the views of others as it is these
industry opinions that will effect the available price on a selection. When you can wager on a winner
that has not been highlighted by the press then you are most likely to make your finest profits.
