Embedded
• Meter Interface Cards (MICs)
Kalkitech Meter Interface Cards (SYNC 600 series) consists of embedded adaptors that can be
plugged into Energy Meters to enhance the communication capabilities of the meters. The device
acts as a data converter for last-mile connectivity for Energy Meters and also as a data
concentrator for sub-metering devices such as water and gas meters. Meter Interface card can
also be customized based on the requirements for the meter.
Through our products under the brand ‘SYNC OEM’, we offer DLMS as well as virtually any other
substation protocol to be implemented in any hardware platforms including Meters, Data
Concentrators and Relays. Kalkitech can also provide customized modules on a project basis to

supports secure VPN connections over dynamic IP, with support for GPRS / CDMA and 3G.

• Phasor Data Concentrators (PDCs)
SYNC 4000 PDC functions as a high performance and scalable synchro-phasor data
concentrator and protocol conversion gateway for Wide Area Monitoring applications. It is
capable of collecting phasor data streamed from any IEEE C37.118 compliant phasor
measurement unit via Ethernet and aggregates all the C37.118 input streams, performs data
validation and time alignment, and transmitsC37.118 super packets to multiple clients.

• Meter Head End System / Data Acquisition System (MDAS)
Kalkitech’s MDAS software - SYNC 5000 - is one the latest products under Kalkitech’s SYNC
portfolio as is specifically designed for a scalable and distributed architecture model for meter
data acquisition. SYNC 5000 can consolidate meter data from many thousands of meters and
provide this consolidated information over open standards based interface to a Metering Head
System. The solution relies either on the SYNC Gateways network or terminal servers, leased
lines and modem banks to provide the communication channels and has built in support for a
variety of open metering protocols like DLMS/COSEM, Modbus, IEC-62056-21 (61107) etc. in

Kalkitech offers Metering Testing Tools and OPC add-ins through its product DLMS Explorer.
DLMS Explorer is an ideal fit for requirements of meter reading applications providing out of
the box connectivity for DLMS meters and devices, and universally accepted OPC interface to
meter data and also be a handy tool for meter firmware developers or test engineers as a

• Substation Engineering, Configuration, and Design Tools
Kalkitech IEC 61850 SCL Manager is a comprehensive graphical tool that allows user to create,
configure, view and edit all the substation elements and its data models as specified in Substation
Configuration Language specification of IEC 61850. SCL Manager enable users to configure a
Substation and all its elements and helps to make the substation IEC 61850 compliant. The latest
edition of SCL Manager not only supports configurations of Substations, but also Hydro Power Plant,
Distributed Energy Resources and Wind Power Plant.
SCL Manager reduces the complexity of the IEC 61850 configuration and provides user friendly
graphical interface for configuration and substation architecture definition. It allows users to build
different substation architectures, and create complete system specifications. SCL Manager also
allows user to link different IEDs & its data elements to the substation specification and create
complete substation configuration as specified in IEC 61850. Option is provided for creation of
complete IED capabilities including its functions and data elements for any new IEDs.
