There are three main types of headaches: tension/cervicogenic headaches which are caused by muscle tension in the head and neck, cluster or Horton's cephalgia which are severe headaches that occur in clusters with pain around the eye, and migraines which are moderate to severe headaches that cause throbbing pain on one side of the head and are often accompanied by nausea, sensitivity to light or sound.
