Companies that understand how to overcome Data Gravity with a LiveData strategy stand to benefit the most from innovations in data and analytics. Others will continue to invest in legacy systems and data silos that fail to take advantage of distributed computing and the rapid pace of data product innovation on the cloud. This talk shares best practices our clients have taken to evolve their data architecture to become a LiveData company.

The first image of a black hole, from the galaxy Messier 87.
Like black holes, data has gravity pulling applications to it and sometimes pulling you down causing your business to suffer.
In actuality, this image is the result of solving a data problem.
Eight radio telescopes around the world synchronized their observations of the black holes over 10 days in April, 2017.
Data was shipped to MIT via drives on an airplane. It’s the 21st century, why are we mailing hard drives?
Scientists like MIT’s Katie Bouman (above) had to develop algorithms to take 5 petabytes of data and make sense of it. But how do you get all that data to the correlation teams in the US and Germany? You use an airplane.
According to Marrone, 5 petabytes is equal to 5,000 years of MP3 audio. There’s simply no way to send that much data efficiently over the internet. It’s faster to actually ship the hard drives to collaborators around the world. That’s why MIT has 1,000 pounds of hard drives sitting in its Haystack Observatory labs.
The WANdisco Fusion provides a modern way to replicate data or code over a wide area network in a secure, scalable, and selective way.
So to wrap-up , I’ll summarize your LiveData opportunities:
Global data consistency - LiveData gives you unparalleled geo-distributed data consistency for hybrid cloud, multi-region and multi-cloud environments
Data disaster protection - LiveData ensures you have near-zero recovery time in the event of an outage
Data movement – LiveData data migration to and from the cloud with no downtime, no data loss and no business disruption.
Data lake agility – LiveData increases the value of a data lake by giving you complete agility, and the ability to maximize the value of your data lake.
Analytics capability –no risk data experimentation advantages, i.e., to experiment with new technologies and platforms on current data without invasive workflow changes.
