The two schools of thought are: 6 Day Creationism: Focusing on the literal use of Yom in connection to other passages as representing a sunrise and sunset. Seeks to interpret astronomical forces in light of the 6 day creation. Tends to undermine the appearance of age. Old Earth Creationism: Focuses on a figurative use of Yom in connection to other passages representing a epoch or modality (i.e. “the day of the Lord”) Both schools seek to highlight God as the maker of all things observable through science.
