1. SILICON VALLEY ASTRONOMY LECTURE SERIES
Foothill College, along with NASA Ames Research Center,
the SETI Institute, and the Astronomical Society of the
Pacific, sponsors a free lecture series at the Foothill
College campus approximately ten times per year.
Working closely with the Ames public relations team and
the Foothill College School of Astronomy, we come up
with imagery and text to match the lecture, and inspire
student, professionals and those just curious about the
wonders of space to drop by and partake in these events.
The final pieces were printed in grey scale only, to save
money on printing costs.

3. FEDERAL PERSONNEL PAYROLL SYSTEM
In their participation of the e-gov initiative, The Human
Resources Division at NASA Ames required a way to help
automate personnel and payroll procedures as well as
allow managers to track personnel and employee data.
The FPPS web site allows the various classes of users
to efficiently gather the necessary information desired
easily.

4. NANOMATRIX, INC.
NanoMatrix, Inc. is engaged in the development and
marketing of sophisticated tools to create structures
and features substantially smaller than a micron, in
the nanotechnology field. The relatively new company
desired a logo that would encompass a visual represen-
tation of what the technology actually looks like. The
snap shrimp design is also used on various marketing
materials to identify the mechanical process of their
technologies which can be found in nature.

5. INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL
International travel is an ever growing industry. Since
regulations and travel plans are changing constantly, a
NASA Ames web site was created. Those who plan on
trips abroad can check the International Travel web site,
set up primarily for Ames civil servant travel.

6. INSIGHTS MAGAZINE MASTHEAD
This masthead was designed for a new quarterly
publication of the High Performance Computing and
Communications Facility at NASA Ames Research
Center. The two sectioned logo was developed to help
distinguish between the two major aspects of the facility:
What was currently “In” (i.e. current projects) and what
could be seen coming down the pipeline in the future of
the technology focusing on the fields of Computational
Aerosciences, Remote Exploration and Experimentation,
Earth and Space Sciences, Learning Technologies, and
the NASA Research and Education Network (NREN). The
design also included reworking the Table of Contents
pages.

7. AMES RESEARCH CENTER: CENTENNIAL OF FLIGHT / AEROEXPO IV
In order to coordinate events relating to the Centennial of
Flight, we created this Centennial of Flight/AeroExpo IV
logo to be used on all materials, brochures and posters
advertising events taking place at NASA Ames Research
Center during the year-long celebration.

8. AMES RESEARCH CENTER 60TH ANNIVERSARY HISTORY BOOK, ATMOSPHERE OF FREEDOM
NASA Ames celebrated their 60th Anniversary recently
and wanted to mark the occasion with a new book filled
with graphics and photographs. Each chapter starts with
a collage highlighting major points in that section.

9. NASA SPECIAL PUBLICATION: FLIGHT RESEARCH AT AMES, FIFTY-SEVEN YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF AERONAUTICAL TECHNOLOGY
A Special Publication for NASA Ames highlighting the
research into flight technology and its advances seen at the
Ames facility. Part history, part technical manual filled with
over one-hundred photographs and charts, compiled in an
attractive easy to read format.

10. 2006 CALENDAR POSTER: AMERICAN INSTITUTE AERONAUTICS AND ASTRONAUTICS
This poster/calendar is intended to celebrate the 75th
anniversary of the American Institute of Aeronautics
and Astronautics (AIAA), a professional society for
aeronautical and aerospace engineers. The historical
theme surrounds 75 years worth of events in the area
of flight mechanics. The poster is intended to have
an “historical feel,” be aesthetically pleasing, clearly
reflect the theme of 75 years of AIAA, communicate the
Atmospheric Flight Mechanics involvement in the poster
development, and be informative regarding calendar
dates and historical events.

11. LIVINGSTONE 2 POSTER
LIVINGSTONE 2 model-based diagnosis software was
deployed on the Earth Observing One spacecraft in
2004. Model-based health management systems can
automatically detect and remediate failures in spacecraft
systems and subsystems before complex problems
become mission critical. Health management systems
can significantly reduce system life cycle costs, boost
mission efficiency, and might one day save a rover, a
spacecraft, or even a human life. This poster was created
to promote this software model and to recognize the
creative and engineering efforts of those involved in the
project.

12. ENDUROMAX: ATHLETE’S RESOURCE CENTER
Enduromax, a new venture, needed an identity that
would relate well to their clients: Athletes, professional
and amateur alike. The logo needed to express the many
qualities associated with athleticism: Speed, power,
energy, etc...

13. BAY AREA TERRORISM WORKING GROUP (BATWinG)
Since 1997, a collaborative effort between the FBI and
the California Office of Emergency Services resulted in
the formation of the Bay Area Terrorism Working Group
(BATWinG). BATWinG is a forum of local, state, and
federal crisis and consequence management agencies
that address WMD contingency planning and training.

14. UNIVERSITY AFFILIATED RESEARCH CENTER (UARC)
The University of California, Santa Cruz and the NASA
Ames Research Center have teamed up to create the
University Affiliated Research Center (UARC). This 10
year agreement will allow the UARC to conduct research
under focusing on information technology, biotechnology,
nanotechnology, computer science, aerospace operations,
astrobiology and fundamental biology.

15. WHIRL MAGNET CD
Whirl Magnet is a musical group comprised of world-
class musicians delivering an eclectic and unique mix of
music. This debut CD titled “Altered States” takes us on
a journey embedded with hypnotic vocal melodies telling
real stories from the perspective of singer and ex-social
worker Rezac. Rezac’s calming voice is complimented by
the sultry style of female vocalist Holly Arnstein. “Altered
States” is a sincere blend of artistic vision and creative
collaboration - something to be appreciated by music
aficionados and people from all walks of life. Listening
to the music and to the stories of the band’s leader, I
was able to feel what he was trying to say. Deep. Dark.
Mysterious. Pain. The artwork for this album was not
only inspired by the musicians themselves, but by the
painting “Christina’s World” by Andrew Wyeth.
