This document discusses the author's project to create an immersive 2D action-adventure game using Flash in order to challenge criticisms of Flash games and demonstrate they can provide narrative-driven experiences on par with console games. The author plans to differentiate their Flash game by employing techniques to remove ads and create a multi-hour gameplay experience centered around storytelling to elicit a cathartic response. They have begun developing their fantasy-themed game using ActionScript 3 and the Flixel framework.
