6. The Reality
• College is going to mean a lot of things to you, so
that is okay
• It is the next step of your education which is
very real, it will be both fun and scary, it could be
expensive, and it will help you reach your future
career.
• Colleges are EVERYWHERE so you can decide
where the next chapter of your life will lead.
• Brockton High is a unique place because it is so
much bigger than most high schools. Think about
what size you want to be at, there is a size and a
space for everyone.
7. The Reality
• When it comes to college cost there are going to
be some concerns
• You need to be smart about financial aid, and
applying to schools that are a match for you
financially.
– Everyone talks about reaches, matches, and
safeties in your grades, but you should also be
thinking about it financially.
• Utilize your resources to find money for
college, it’s amazing how quickly four or five
scholarships build up to pay for books, or more!
8. The Price is Right…
• The rules of the game:
– You can divide yourself into teams, but you need to
be prepared that there are only five prizes for the
team so you want to make sure that each member
of your team will get a prize
– A name of a college and a description will pop up on
the screen. Each team will have ninety seconds to
confer after the description is read. They will have
to select what they believe the expected price is for
the student.
– The team who gets closest, without going over, will
get a point and will send one member of their team
to play in the bonus prize round, where that one
person will play the speed round.
9. The Price is Right….
• Speed Round
– Speed round will allow the one player to hear five
specific parts of the college cost they just
guessed, and guess what the college expects you
to spend.
– For each question that they come within 100 dollars
on they will gain an extra point.
• If two teams guess the same amount and are
both closest, then they will both get the point and
come play the speed round. If all teams guess the
same amount and are all the closest no teams will
get the point.
