Characters Characters
MAIN CHARACTER My trailer will consist of four characters. The leading role is a male vampire named Igor whose life is closely interlinked with that of the other support roles. The support includes a female vampire named , another female character called who is the human love attraction for the Igor. With the male vampire- I have in mind a very classic look of a pale actor with jet black hair and distinctive gaunt looking facial features, whilst also crucially being very skinny and presenting a particularly reserved nature. He will be called Igor. I am considering the use of black contact lenses, as a subtle indication of the vampire characters that otherwise look as human as possible with no gimmicks or clichés such as fangs. Benedict Cumberbatch- known for his most recent roles in ‘Tinker, Tailor, Spy’ and ‘Sherlock Holmes’ is visually very suitable for my main character. He has the gaunt features, coupled with a moody austere, which bode well as traits for a vampire who is struggling with a thirst for human blood and the frequent difficulties his immortality brings about in today's (ever modernizing) society. Jim Sturgess would also be suitable, as he has played a very tortured soul in the recent ‘Brighton Rock’ that reflects the same kind of mystique and concealed fearful nature of Igor. Similarly, in his role as the lead singer of joy division, he had to portray a very internal depression, verging on emotional break down as he battled through serious epilepsy. ‘Struggle's of a different nature are emulated in Igor, yet Stugess’ manner could translate these with an equal passion and believability. Iwan Rheon Nicholas Hoult Jeremy Brett
First supporting role Thrillers and to some extent horror, as she posses naturally chilling Delivery and looks. Her TV experiences in Credo, otherwise known as the Devils Curse have seen her shoot to fame and land roles in the far more intense horror roles in films, such as the most recent critically acclaimed horror- kill list. Her Swedish roots allow her to adopt a cold sensibility, as she retains a particularly Eastern European accent, which can be heard as harsh sounding by English audiences. The horror film maker Stegath Dorr grew up with Anna, showing how she was infkluenced by darker themes from a very young age. Amanda Seyfried, like Annalynne is not traditionally associated with horror and is arguably the most sweet looking of all my shortlist for Beatrix, however she posses an air of mystery that is key to Beatrix’s unpredictable nature. She demonstrates this in her predictable role as one of the high maintenance plastics in Mean girls, whom is actually far more complex then what is presented visually. Also the recent Red Riding Hood, shows her in touch with a far more chilling role of a film full of darker innuendo's and subtle dry humour, talents which would make an exciting combination in the character of Beatrix. I want the female vampire to be equally as pale and gaunt in order to explicitly indicate her vampire features, yet she is less tortured than the male character, so will be presented as slightly healthier and more attractive, fitting with her more sexualized nature that is at odds with Igor and Rose (the human love attraction). She is called Beatrix. Amanda seyfried Anna Buring Annalynne Mccord After much deliberation, Eva Green is the standout choice to play Beatrix. She has a fiercely moody exterior that conceals an equally as macabre sensibility. In terms of her career defining role in James Bond, she clearly shone as a dark horse and mystery character that was gripping to watch. She is quoted to have said, “it's a real ballsy character. She has some guts” about her latest venture in to a tv production of Camelot, showing her versatility and ability to play dominating female roles with ease. The three actors above were part of my initial research in to the role of Beatrix. Annalynne Mccord is a left field choice for the role- she is most recognized for playing ‘Naomi’ in the recent American High school drama of 90210, yet she has always provided the very formulaic show with an edge, almost a ferocious side as she dominates as ‘queen b’ of the school. Furhtermore, the thriller ‘Day of the dead’ proved she is able to act with captivating intensity, whilst charm with her natural beauty, hence she is suitable for the vixen vs angel type demeena I wish to convey in Beatrix. Also suitable for the almost schizophrenic type traits of Beatrix is the rather more obvious choice of Anna Buring. She is experience in and associated with
I feel these actresses have all portrayed characters with very kind dispositions, which is precisely what is required in Rose. They have to be the golden child, centre of women's jealousy and the apple of men’s eyes. Vicky McClure and Marion present this almost childlike sweetness that would be perfect for Rose’s naïve nature. This role is less taxing interms of dialogue and any of the actresses shortlisted here could provide the very realistic element of the supposedly ‘normal’ girl, surrounded by abnormal chracters. Second supporting role The other female character also needs to be relatively attractive, yet in a unique way to show how she matches the odd looking vampire. She will posses the ordinary English name Rose, which is also a symbol for her love and her ‘rose-red’ nature, which is like the blood Igor desires to survive. She also needs to show some form of feminine value to correlate with the Beatrix who secretly desires Igor. Ronan has since appeared in several Hollywood films, including the romantic comedy I Could Never Be Your Woman (2007), the film adaptation of the science fantasy Young Adult novel City of Ember (2008), Death Defying Acts (2008), the war drama film The Way Back (2010) and Hanna (2011). She was awarded a Saturn Award and a second BAFTA Award nomination for her portrayal in Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones (2009). It's Irish for 'freedom.' I recently found out that my middle name, Una, means 'unity' in Ireland. And I think my last name means 'seal.' So I’m a free, unified seal."[1] [edit] Career [edit] 2003–2008 She made her screen debut on Irish public service broadcaster RTÉ, in the 2003 primetime medical drama The Clinic and the 2004–2005 mini-serial Proof.[12] Ronan auditioned to play Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix[13], but lost out to Evanna Lynch. Ronan in 2007 At the age of twelve, Ronan was asked to attend a casting call for Joe Wright's 2007 film adaptation of Ian McEwan's 2001 novel Atonement.[14] She auditioned for and won the part of Briony Tallis, an aspiring 13-year-old novelist, who irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister's lover of a crime he did not commit. Starring alongside Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, Wright grew more and more impressed with Ronan on-set, who declared her role a "fantastic part [to play]."[14] Budgeted at US$30 million, the film became a financial and critical success, resulting in a worldwide box office total of US$130 million and various awards, including a 2008 Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.[15] Ronan herself received rave reviews for her performance, with Ty Burr of the Boston Globe calling her "remarkable [and] eccentric,"[16] and was subsequently nominated for a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, ranking her among the youngest persons ever to be nominated for the latter.[17] Ronan's next film was Amy Heckerling's often-delayed romantic comedy film I Could Never Be Your Woman (2007). Initially shot in mid-to fall 2005 in Los Angeles and London, the film went straight-to-DVD in the United States and other major market territories after it had struggled to attract financing and several deals disintegrated during its post-production in spite of its budget of US$25 million.[18] In the film, Ronan portrayed the character of Izzie Grossman, the pubescent daughter of a television show screenwriter, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, who falls for a younger man (Paul Rudd), while Izzie falls in love for the first time herself. Upon its release, the independent project garnered generally lukewarm reviews, with Joe Leydon of Varitey summing it as "a desperately unfunny mix of tepid showbiz satire and formulaic romantic comedy."[19] In 2008, Ronan starred in both Death Defying Acts and City of Ember. In Gillian Armstrong's supernatural romantic thriller Death Defying Acts, she played Benji McGarvie, the daughter of an impoverished and uneducated psychic, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, who begins a passionate affair with legendary magician Harry Houdini at the height of his career. Ronan, who had to wear brown makeup and a turban for her part,[20] was awarded an Irish Film & Television Award for her performance.[17] Released to a mixed reception,[21] the film was not a success at the box office, barely grossing US$8.3 million worldwide.[22] In Gil Kenan's City of Ember Ronan starred as Lina Mayfleet, a teenager who must save the people of the fictional underground city named Ember. The fantasy film, based on the 2003 novel by Jeanne DuPrau, received mixed reviews from critics,[23] and grossed US$17 million worldwide, well below its US$55 million budget.[24] [edit] 2009–present In 2009, Ronan appeared alongside Rachel Weisz and Stanley Tucci in Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones (2009), an adaptation of the same-titled book by Alice Sebold. In the film, Ronan plays 14-year-old Susie Salmon, who, after being murdered, watches from the "in-between" as her family and friends struggle to move on with their lives while she comes to terms with her own death. Ronan and her family were originally hesitant for Ronan to accept her role in the film because of its subject matter, but agreed after meeting with Jackson, who described her as "just amazing on-screen."[25] The Lovely Bones was released to mainly negative reviews from critics,[26] who criticized the film's story and its message.[27] Praised for the acting however, particularly of Ronan, whose performance Richard Corliss of Time commented as "magic,"[27] the film garnered various accolades, winning Ronan a Critics' Choice Award, a Saturn Award and a second BAFTA Award nomination for her portrayal the following year.[17] In 2010's The Way Back, directed by Peter Weir, Ronan played the character of Irena, a Polish orphan, who joins a group of prisoners who escape from the gulag in Siberia in 1940 and attempt to make a 4,000 mile trek to India. Shot on location in Bulgaria, India and Morocco alongside Jim Sturgess, Colin Farrell and Ed Harris,[28] the war drama film received generally positive reviews,[29] with The Telegraph calling it "a journey that feels awful and heroic and unfathomable – and one you’ll want to watch again."[30] Her performance in the film garnered Ronan her fourth Irish Film & Television Award.[17] In 2011, Ronan starred in the title role of the action thriller film Hanna, which marked her reunion with Atonement director Joe Wright.[10] As announced, Ronan has been cast alongside Orlando Bloom and Imelda Staunton in the Emma Thompson-penned Effie Gray biopic Effie as the title character,[31]. However, she was later replaced by Dakota Fanning, with Tom Sturridge replacing Bloom.[32] She will play a teen assassin in Geoffrey Fletcher's directing debut Violet & Daisy.[33] In addition, she will star as Melanie Stryder in Andrew Niccol's film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novel The Host,[34][35] and appear in director Neil Jordan's adaptation of the play Byzantium.[36] [edit] Filmography Year Film Role Notes 2003–2004 The Clinic Rhiannon Geraghty 4 Episodes 2005 Proof Orla Boland 4 Episodes 2007 The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey Celia Hardwick Atonement Briony Tallis (age 13) Irish Film & Television Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role Las Vegas Film Critics Society Award for Youth in Film – Female Phoenix Film Critics Society Award for Best Performance by a Youth in a Lead or Supporting Role – Female Nominated – Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress Nominated – BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role Nominated – Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Young Actress Nominated – Empire Award for Best Newcomer Nominated – Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture Nominated – London Film Critics Circle Award for British Supporting Actress of the Year Nominated – London Film Critics Circle Award for British Breakthrough – Acting Nominated – Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Supporting Actress Nominated – Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture Nominated – Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film – Leading Young Actress I Could Never Be Your Woman Izzie 2008 Death Defying Acts Benji Irish Film & Television Award for Actress in a Supporting Role Nominated – Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Supporting Actress City of Ember Lina Mayfleet Nominated – Irish Film & Television Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role 2009 The Lovely Bones Susie Salmon Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Young Actress Irish Film & Television Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role Las Vegas Film Critics Society Award for Youth in Film – Female Phoenix Film Critics Society Award for Best Performance by a Youth in a Lead or Supporting Role – Female Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor Nominated – BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role Nominated – Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress Nominated – Detroit Film Critics Society Award for Best Actress Nominated – Houston Film Critics Society Award for Best Actress Nominated – London Critics Circle Film Award for Young British Performer of the Year Nominated – Santa Barbara International Film Virtuoso Award Nominated – St. Louis Gateway Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress Nominated – Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film Leading Young Actress 2010 The Way Back Irena Irish Film & Television Award for Actress in a Supporting Role Nominated – London Critics Circle Film Award for Young British Performer of the Year 2011 Hanna Hanna Arrietty Arrietty UK Dub Voice Violet & Daisy Daisy post-production 2012 The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle Charlotte Doyle in production [edit] Further reading * Cluain Dolcain: A Brief Note, Charles Doherty, in Seanchas: Studies in Early and Medieval Irish Archaeology, History and Literature in Honour of Francis John Byrne, pp. 182–188, edited by Alfred P. Third supporting role The ‘nosy neighbour’ adds a further narrative element to the trailer, as he complicates the lives of the other characters and helps to crank the tension. He is a mysterious character and plays on the classic convention of a police officer or a vampire hunter in pursuit of somebody. He will be dressed shabby in contrast to all the other younger characters and will further look old with grey facial hair, giving him a somewhat haggard look, suggesting he has lived an exciting life. As this character is not required to speak much if any dialogue at all, a recognisable British actor with a cult like following from many classic films would be perfect, in adding a sense of his purpose without unnecessary involvement in the rest of the narrative, which is focussed on the triangle between Igor, Rose and Beatrix. Jim Broadbent Bill Nighy Christopher Plummer is arguably the best choice, as he posses a very British, very realistic disposistion, far more out of all the very capable shortlist. Christopher Plummer Liam Neeson Michael Caine

Characters.

  • 2. • 3. She is experience in and associated with
  • 4. Rachel Mc Adams Vicky McClure Saoirse Ronan Amy Adams Saoirse Ronan From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Saoirse Ronan Ronan at the City of Ember premiere in 2008 Born Saoirse Una Ronan[1] 12 April 1994 (1994-04-12) (age 17)[2] New York City,[3] New York, United States Occupation Actress Years active 2003–present Saoirse Una Ronan (Irish pronunciation: [ˈsˠiːɾˠʃə]; roughly seer-shə; born 12 April 1994) is an Irish film actress.[4][5] She began her career as a child and came to international prominence in 2007 after co-starring in the film Atonement, which gained her nominations for a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her one of the youngest actresses to have this kind of recognition. • 5.
