Poster Session
Parent / Teacher Conference Afternoon

2. What Exactly do I Need to do?
--Be prepared to give a one minute talk to passersby
about your societal problem and your proposed solution.
--Prepare a poster that uses visuals and text to highlight
background information, findings, and questions.
--Get feedback from audience about your problem and
solution.
3. What Information Should I Include on
my Poster?
--A title
--An abstract section (brief overview of topic)
--An introduction (to draw audience in)
--A results section (brief summary of extent of
problem and current solutions)
--A conclusion section (your proposed solution
with explanation)
--A bibliography section (MLA format)
4. Poster Template
Bibliography
• Use a standard size poster (approximately 28” x 23”)
• Text must be large enough to read from 2-3 feet
away.
5. In What Format do I Present?
--You will present via poster and your one-minute talk.
--However, if you choose to have extra items to
communicate your idea, that could be helpful.
--A video about your problem
--Items on the table people could touch that relate
to your topic
--Extra pictures
--Remember, you want people to be involved in your
presentation.
6. How Do I Get Audience Feedback?
--There will be forms for attendees to rate
your presentation and ideas.
7. Considerations
--Remember you want to sell your solution to the
audience, so show your enthusiasm.
--Since you WILL put effort into your poster, please use it
or reference parts of it during your presentation.
--Make your poster bright, creative, and engaging.
--DO NOT print out your paper and simply put it on the
poster.
--Be friendly to everyone; you are representatives of BHS.
--Look professional. No sweatpants or leggings.
--Invite your friends and family to showcase your work!
