2. introduction The term “genetically modified organism” does not always imply, but can include, targeted insertions of genes from one species into another. Genetically modified organism contain no DNA from other species and are therefore not transgenic but cisgenic. They are use in biological and medical research, production of pharmaceutical drugs, experimental medicine (e.g. gene therapy), and agriculture (e.g. golden rice).
3. Genetically modified organisms or GMOs, are living organisms that have been altered through genetic engineering. The purpose creating GMOs is usually to combine beneficial genes of different organisms in a single organism often for the purpose of consumption as a food source. Using GMOs in agriculture has many potential benefits.
