Hello, We are the Bangkok Student Network Representatives from Bangkok Patana School. As members of the Bangkok Patana JSRC it is our job to ensure that the students of the school have a voice that is heard so changes can be made for the better.
Homework – need less homework because students have more pressure and stress Bullying - a few cases of bullying and it needs to stop Canteen space – Canteen space is really small and it is hard to move around easily. The student council operates under a different format from the secondary councils, and they are more of a discussion area where students concerns are voiced and changes are made through the teachers. It is also a preparation for the secondary student councils where it is really up to the students to make the decisions of what to do with the current issues.
Starting with the JSRC. Currently we are discussing issues such as Whether Laptops should be issued to students, the ever-present issue of too much homework, Bigger classrooms for bigger classes and our punishment and reward system (whether it provides enough incentive). We continue to work towards our goal in changing Patana for the best, and this can include small but important changes that the students benefit from for example food in the canteen or repaired water fountains.
For the Senior Representative Council, they are currently discussing whether the Patana newsletters show be given out on paper or online. We were thinking of creating Patana FM, our own school radio station. Improving yearly events such as Sports Day and Tiger Spirit Day – More events and sports day teachers can join in. Fun Day – Who would volunteer to help stalls Changes that we have made were to fix school facilities, adjusting the temperature of air conditioning in the senior studies, and how we can improve the canteen.
The hopes for the future for Bangkok Patana School is to have a bigger campus, more efficiency in transport, to be more eco-friendly and to have student ID cards that can be used multiple purposes overall we hope that the students can continue to work with the staff of the school towards the shared aim of having a high quality learning environment.
