Being An Honor Student
There happens to be more to being an honor student than just doing an excessive amount of
classwork and homework. I sincerely believe that being an honor student means challenging that
student to become a better and more versatile person. While there is still a lot of work to
accomplish in the classroom, I feel that an honor student also challenges him or herself outside of
school. For example, an honor student would partake in a sport to test him or herself physically. Or
become a volunteer to help other students or non–students in a community. As stated in the
foregoing paragraphs, being an honor student means more than just getting a passing grade in any
subject. To be an honor student means to better one's own mental, emotional and

Being An International Student Essay
Being accepted into a U.S university is obviously more challenging for a foreign student like you
planning to study in America than for a U.S citizen. However, being a foreign (or "international")
student does mean you have a different perspective that schools in the USA are valuable than the
ones in your country.
International students create a significant contribution to US campus life, as well as to college and
university revenues. Consequently, USA colleges and universities admit and welcome international
students.
Which means that, although, you might want to overcome some obstacles as a way to study in
America, international students can be seen as a valuable commodity here. U.S government needs
you and your money to develop the country....show more content...
Unfortunately, this choice is not immediately open to foreign students /international students
studying in the United States on the student visa.
Note: Working On Campus with a Student Visa: No Work Permit Needed for a Foreign Student
/International Student
Many US universities provide work–study programs to foreign students / international students.
These jobs usually entail manning at the school help desk, working with the university library, or
maybe even mowing the campus lawns.
Payments from these jobs are generally low, but every dollar can help when it's time to purchase
another textbook or if you intent to buy more foods to cook than eating microwave popcorn every
night!
Foreign students / international students are limited to working 20 hours weekly, off or on–campus
(although off–campus needs a special international student work permit and is available once after
the 1st academic year), so you shouldn't depend on work–study program to provide you with much
money throughout the school year.
During holidays and schools vacation, however, a foreign student / international student using the
proper paperwork can work unlimited hours on–campus, so you could probably earn a reasonable
amount over the summer

My Experience As A College Student Essay
Introduction I have enjoyed the opportunity to be an active student in this class. I have been
delighted to be able to speak in open discussions during lecture and I wish that more professors
practiced this method. The objective of this paper is for me to demonstrate an understanding of my
learning experiences through the information that I have learned over the duration of this course. I
have chosen to focus on my experience as a college student as the main topic of my self–assessment.
Many topic discussions in class have given me insight to the way that humans obtain and process
information. The class sessions on confirmation basis, critical thinking and sleep were all very
relatable to a returning college student like me. In the previous assessment, I discussed these key
elements in detail regarding how I maintained a balance of normality in my life. In this paper, I will
explain self–regulation and how the intrinsic method, extrinsic method, adaptation, and
self–actualization all relate to learning as a college student. Past School Experience As anyone
could imagine making the decision to return to school was not an easy one. I had been out of
college since December of 2011. The last college that I attended was the University of Phoenix. I
attended the ground campus in Sandy Springs, GA and the hour commute was killing me. Although
I only attended school once a week the amount of time that was required for me to put into my class
assignments was horrendous. I was

Describe Myself As A Student
Describe yourself as a student and also your aspirations for the future. Please include examples from
your personal academic and non–academic experiences.
A sophomore at Downtown Magnets High School, I demonstrate passion in my education, ambition
in fulfilling my personal and academic goals, and am an explorative student. My passion for learning
is the result of my mindset, in that aside from finding education a necessity, it is enjoyable,
challenging, and beneficial in fulfilling my future aspirations. For example, I find my Honors
Advanced Mathematics class my most unique course. It builds upon my ability to critically think,
present data or information, and understand higher–level math at a rapid pace. In particular, it is the
ability to solve real–world situations and the underlying mystery mathematicians have yet to solve
that intrigues me to continue learning. The class expects much of me, but I am aware that it is
preparing me for college– and university–level math while providing me with the skills to pursue a
career in Architectural/ Structural Engineering. Ambitious, I set objectives for myself and arrange to
accomplish and excel in the process. For instance, I participated in my middle school's academic
decathlon with a chance to represent my school in the mathematics single–subject exam. In doing so,
I attempted to score a near perfect to perfect score. While the competition did not end the way I
expected, I successfully gained a flawless score on the questions

My Personal Goals as a Student Essay
My Personal Goals as a Student
An obvious goal as a working adult returning to school is, of course, to earn a degree. My overall
goal is no different than any other student, however, I also have several personal goals I hope to
achieve while attending the University. Some of these goals are to acquire new skills and enhance
my current business abilities, to apply what I learn in the classroom to forward my career, and to
feel personal satisfaction of finishing something I started. Already having experience in the business
world has proven to me that it is essential to have skills to maintain and improve daily functions.
Three skills I'd personally like to improve on are my organizational, time management, and
presentation...show more content...
By just going through the motions of coming to work everyday, only getting done what has to be
done, and going home at the end of the day, one might realize that an everyday routine can quickly
turn into a mundane professional life. At the same time, if a person does all of these things, but
shows a bit of initiative to gain more knowledge of the job, they may see an opportunity to
slightly move up in the company. The latter is my situation. My experience and knowledge of my
department and its systems have afforded me the opportunity to move up within the department
over the past five years, but I'm beginning to see a limit of how far those skills alone will allow
me to climb. Being an expert in my field of pharmaceutical benefits doesn't translate into managing
personnel just as knowing how to complete a task doesn't mean I'm able to give a clear
presentation on how it should be done. Sure, I've been rewarded for the work I've done and
knowledge I've obtained, but at some point, my employer will eventually see that more is needed to
continue to promote me to higher, more management focused positions. My goal is to complete these
courses and obtain my degree to prove that, if the situation arises, I can be the right person for the
job. A more personal goal of mine is to finish what I've started. After high school,

My Journey As A High School Student Essay
At around this time four years back, I was just beginning my journey as a high school student. I
had decided that I wanted to tryout for my schools ' dance team. I had previously danced with a
studio by the name of Barton and Williams School of Dance, since the age of three, so I was
excited to learn that I could be on a team at my school. I received all of the information that was
necessary regarding the tryout dates, along with the paperwork that would be needed. We had to
learn two combinations, as well as the actual tryout dance, within three days. On the day of the
judging portion of the tryouts, everyone received a number. The judges would throw us into
groups of three or four by randomly choosing our numbers. We needed to perform the two
combinations individually and the actual routine as a group. Once all of the groups were done,
we had to wait for a good two or three hours for the results. Everyone had been so nervous. Finally,
the judges entered the room and posted the list of the numbers of the people who had made the
cut onto the wall. I was so excited to see my number on the list and to be able to say that I had
made it. In the very beginning of the season, my team attended the National Dance Alliance camp,
or NDA camp. This camp consists of nothing but dance for four days and three nights. It is located
in Maryland, at Towson University, so we had to rent a bus in order to get there. About a month
before camp, the team hired a guest choreographer to teach

I Am A First Generation College Student Essay
I am a first generation college student that has made it to a higher education. I see myself as the
second daughter, that has come out the land of pride and production. I am from Richmond,
California, but that's just where I geographically from, when in reality I came from a strong family
of immigrants. My parents both came to the United States as a young 26, and 24–year–old parents of
one child. I did not come until two years later that I came, I came into the world, and was already
marked with the name of an anchor baby. As I grow up I did not really know what I was, what I
did was always question myself, am I just a reason to keep my parents here longer? Why am I
called an anchor baby? I felt that I did not fit in but my schools I went to school always had a
mixture of students. I did not know what I was or who I was, I had not direct connection to any
ethnicity. When I was in elementary school there where a mixture of Whites, Asians, Latinos, and
African Americans ethnicities, grow up in a multicultural area I didn't think about race or class as
much as late in life. Race was a topic that I did not really think and talked about until I was placed
into a private school that class was visible, and I began to be more aware or class and race. I
would not talk about race or class at school, but I would wait to talk about it when I would get
home. At the time I did not know what race really meant, I thought the race was just like ethnicity, I
did not even think about race as

Why I Am An Expert Student Essay
Student Success helped me learn many things I thought I knew well. The steps to becoming an
expert student are often overlooked. In Student Success, there are four skills that were the most
helpful to me which are Time Management, Notes Taking, Taking Tests, and Problem Solving.
Although I knew of these seemingly common skills beforehand, my skills have increased
significantly with the help of Student Success. Before I began to take this class, the way I
managed my time was inefficient. I prioritized quite poorly and I had difficulties keeping up with
important tasks. I often found myself procrastinating and I had trouble making room for studying
and doing homework in my busy work schedule. As I stressed with time management, I asked
myself, should I be managing my time this way? or am I even managing my time at all? Another
problem I faced was the way I took notes. I often wrote down extensive amounts of information
and organized it poorly. I managed to grow accustomed to my strategy and became oblivious to
my lack of efficiency. I had problems paying attention to the way my instructors taught which led
to minimal comprehension with extensive criteria written down. I did not have many problems
with the way I took tests but I did have problems controlling my test anxiety before I read about
techniques to handle it. I used to rush on my tests and I hardly checked my answers. I always asked
myself whether I took my tests properly or not. Problem

I Am A Hard Working And Dedicated Student
In daily life the term personality is very freely used by people with different meanings. Some
people refer to the physical appearance like height, weight, color, body built, dress, voice, etc.
Some other people refer to intellectual qualities like intelligence, activeness, way of speech,
thinking and reasoning abilities, etc. However our psychological definitions tell us that
personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and
behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One is understanding individual
differences in particular personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other is
understanding how the various parts of a person come together as a whole. Emotions are the
intense feelings that are directed at someone or something. I have never thought of what my
personality is, so when i was asked to write an essay on what my personality was it was just a
great task for me to writing about my personality. Primarily, I am a hard working and dedicated
student. I 've always put my best in everything that I 've done academically. I am not the type of
person who gets put up to a big challenge and backs down. I will always rise to the peak of my
production and accomplish my goal. On this description I will be describing myself in a wide
variety of personality traits that are good, and bad. Such as: enthusiastic, organized, not friendly ,
calm and my bad ones are having a quick temper and

Life Of A College Student Essay
Time sure does fly by! It feels as if it was just yesterday when we threw our graduation caps up in
the air. What will our future hold after we enter the next chapter in our lives? Many are
encouraged, debating, or even forced to enter their new chapter into the life of a college student.
High school graduates are given limited options in the generation we live in today. We grow up to
believe that success comes with the development of education as you grow from a pre–schooler to
an adult. Many don't continue their education because they don't want to live off of a piece of paper
their entire life. Parents and teachers influence students to continue their education after high school;
it increases their chances for the future career they pursue. Graduates should continue their education
because they gain independence, knowledge, and creates financial stability.
Several students who have part time jobs believe they make enough money; therefore, they don 't
consider being open–minded of future careers ahead of them. An example of a job that influences
young adults to believe that they make enough money to maintain their lives already are factories
like Walmart DC. Those students may be influenced by their parents because their mother or father
didn't continue their education either while still conserving enough money in their savings account.
Parents are role models to their kids whereas having motivation will only inspire students for further
success. Some may think that they

Non Traditional Student Essay
Stability in our everyday lives is really significant. Trying to balance out school, work and home may
be a problem, particularly when it comes to nontraditional students. Nontraditional students are
generally more stressed out than traditional students. As a nontraditional scholar, one must learn to
stabilize them. Lack of time, transposing, and money are higher degrees of stress due to time
management, hence I must find stability not only in professionalism but also at home.
Struggling throughout the process of discovering myself and becoming whom I want to be. Setting
aside a plan to be successful in all I want to do, time takes on a major role. Embarking on this school

It's exceedingly difficult for somebody to find a school and a job in the same area because of the
economy, seems somewhat like the Great Depression. Traveling from school to work can be a bit
tough for individual work and travelling to school full time, for example, you might have to
depart school at 4:30 and be at work at 5:00 but your job is an hour away with no beginning of
transit other than the CTA. It's uncommon now in days to find a job working part time because
most people want to be part time as I only because I don't desire to look anywhere not home,
schoolhouse, or work even if my studies are online, there's more of a commitment because it's
almost as if you're teaching yourself. Traveling a distance from school and work may also stress
you out because this has to do with time management as well what if the teacher holds you, or the
bus is delayed, or the car won't start, now here's a write up because you can't seem to get to work
on time. It's then possible to verbalize to the school or the job about your hours, but what occurs if
they both say no then what will you

My Life As A Student
My life as a student has been a fairly good one. I've received good grades throughout all my years
of high school and pride myself as an intelligent individual. But my individual ability to grow and
learn has been always changing and shifting as I have grown. I think that currently, I am at a low
point in my mindset and learning ability, but there is hope on the horizon. This essay will explore
the growth and mindset of Will Roser, and how I can grow as a learner, friend, and individual. As
a student, I have some habits that I rely on, both good and bad. I am usually a good student,
receiving above average grades and I am moderately happy with them. My strength is that I
always get everything done on time. I never have an excuse because my work is always done. I
pride myself on that fact. And although that may seem like a good quality, the fact that I
procrastinate so much does affect how good that work may be. So yes, I always finish my work
which is always a good thing, but it may be at the expense of my sleep schedule. I tend to do most of
my work the day before, despite telling myself over and over again that it needs to be done earlier.
Luckily I have hope for my habits as I am still young. I still have to work on my procrastination but I
think that I can improve as long as I start to see the benefits of starting work early. As William
James says in his essay Habit, "The period between twenty and thirty is the critical one in the
formation of intellectual and

How to Become a Better Student
To become successful in life, we all need to learn to become a good student in every aspect of life.
Becoming a good student is not an easy task. Most would agree that in order to be a good student it
takes a great deal of hard work, time and self–discipline. A student who possess these strong
characteristics will often times stand out from the rest of their classmates. In order to become a
strong student, one must have motivation, positive self–esteem, positive self–talk, commitment and
good study habits. It has been said that to get the required performance out of an individual, you
must first find what motivates them. There are many ways for a student to become motivated. These

People's heart speak to them about for instances the individuals in their life who they long to spend
more time with. If a student's mind is telling them to clean their room, they should act upon these
thoughts, and clean their room. Acting on these bodily instincts are good ways for students to
recognize their needs and to retain back positive self–esteem. Students should also heavily focus on
their diets. Individuals who make healthy choices with their fitness and diet will find that they feel
better about themselves. To keep a strong mind people need to consume the right foods and always
make time in their busy schedules for exercise. Completing these simple tasks can boost a student's
self–esteem and make sure they are performing at optimal level. In our society today, more students
are daily telling themselves that they are not worthy or not smart enough. These negative thoughts
people tell themselves are the number one force that can destroy one's self–esteem. Students should
really attempt to use positive self–talk as much as possible. Positive self–talk is defined as any time
in which individuals think or talk to themselves in a beneficial manner. Students should start off
everyday on a positive note. Simply waking up and starting mornings on a high note can make the
day run much more smoothly. Students should not

First Year Students Essay
First year students are faced with various social challenges. One of these challenges will be
attempting to manage a level of cultural and social diversity which may differ from what they are
familiar with in their communities. First year students enter a new social realm as they begin their
studies. They are forced to recreate their social world, as the meet new people and make new
friends. A first yearstudent will be faced with making his/her own decisions about drugs, sex,
alcohol and other. Partying may cause problems as bad decisions may be made due to the use of

Staying away from home in an unfamiliar environment with new people can induce homesickness in
many first year students worldwide.
The social pressures of fitting in and making new friends affect first year students all over the
world. Students face social pressures such as partying, drinking and taking drugs. It is also
challenging for first years to make new friends as they are in an unfamiliar environment.
There is a vast difference between South Africa's first year dropout rate and America's first year
dropout rate. South Africa has a first year dropout rate of 50–60%, whereas the United States of
America has a first year dropout rate of 30%. A possible reason for this vast difference is the
admission requirements. South Africa has lower admission requirements than the US. Therefore
students with lower marks are being accepted into university in South Africa and are dropping out
sooner due to their low marks and not being able to handle the academic content. The United States
has stricter acceptance rules which results in a lower dropout rate as the students that are accepted
have higher marks and are able to handle the academic

Me as a Student
Me as a student "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn". A quote
by Benjamin Franklin that has always been important to me, and in following it I have grown to
be more and more confident in my learning. This led to a growth in my confidence, and inevitably
allowed me to learn in a way that suited me. To believe in myself has and will always be my first
priority. Throughout the last 18 years of my life, I have come to have many regrets, and have
faced a range of difficulties. This constant notion of failure knocking at my door prompted my
response of accepting it, only considering my failure as a way to learn from the experiences. I
believe that how I choose to overcome these obstacles determines whether I will become
successful or not. As many people say, we learn from our experiences and our mistakes, but there
are very few people who actually choose to act upon it. I consider myself among those who
accept their mistakes and as having the ability to resolve them. Being a free thinker, I always
imagined myself as a number of different occupations as a child. When I was 8 I wanted to be a
hair dresser, a stay at home mum, a social worker, a journalist and a flight attendant altogether.
The older I got the more I began to realise that life goes by quickly and there is no way I could
possibly accomplish everything I dreamt of as a child; and I should focus on one thing that I am
passionate about and put my whole heart into it. So I began

Characteristics Of A Good Student Essay
A good student is someone who always tries to do the right thing and makes education an
important priority. Being a good student in school is an excellent start on having a successful
future. Motivation is the key to their success. There are many qualities to be considered a good
student. Three of the most important qualities are maintaining good grades, having excellent
behavior, and managing your time wisely. Trying to maintain good grades is very important when
in school. Having grades like "A's" and "B's" for example will result in having many educational
opportunities and rewards. Colleges, job companies, or scholarship committees will review grades
and other information on a school transcript to see if that student is eligible and satisfy the
requirements needed. GPA stands forgrade point average, so the higher the grade, the higher the
GPA will climb up. This results in getting more money for college if the grade point average is an
excellent score. There are some events and programs that reward students for having high and
excellent grades. The National Honor Society is one of those programs. In order for a student's
grade to stay on top, completing school assignments are an essential way to do so. It's not possible
to get through or even pass a class without completing assignments. Usually, the class expectations
will say for example quizzes are twenty–five percent, homework or classwork is fifteen percent, and
tests are forty percent when it comes to grading work. What if the student just focuses on the
bigger percentage? Even though the bigger percent has more impact on a student's grade, the
smaller grade percentages can still affect the student if it has not been completed at all because it
adds up and it still badly affects the grade. This is why completing assignments are important.
Participation in a class setting will improve a student's grade because getting involved in the class
discussions will help to understand the subject better. Some teachers even grade on participation,
which can be an easy "A". The next quality of becoming a good student is the type of behavior you
must show. Being respectful in the classroom is important because if a student is sent out for

I Am A Graduate Student Essay
As the fall semester is quickly winding down, I often catch myself reflecting on the fact that I will
be completing my second semester as a graduate student. It certainly still is a surreal feeling for
myself. I cannot even fathom the fact that I will be able to say that I have gotten through two
semesters of graduate school. The reason I bring this up is because when I first started the graduate
program, I would often wonder whether I belonged in graduate school. There was a sense of
self–doubt. Therefore, I had trouble believing that I was worthy of being in this program. And, as
ignorant as it may sound, I attributed my acceptance into the program to luck and fate. I believe
one major reason for feeling that way is due to the fact that I am the first one in my family to attend
college, so I felt incapable of achieving something that had never been done in my family.
Furthermore, self–reflection allows for me to reflect back on my collegiate journey and reminisce
on my own personal obstacles and challenges that I have dealt with. It also allows for me to be a
more effective mentor. I see myself as a mentor who is empathic and understanding of those students
who are also first–generation college students who may be experiencing similar issues. Not
necessarily only being able to be an effective mentor when working with first generations students,
rather learning new perspectives and understanding different cultural norms that can further assist me
as I continue to develop

Why Grades Are Important Essay
Yes, grades are an effective means of motivating students to do their best work. If there were no
grades why the students would like to work hard? Do not they want to enjoy luxury and comforts in
their youth? Surely, students want to enjoy their youth with luxury and comforts. They can not
judge themselves because they have no scale of judgment. It is the instructor only who judges the
students comparatively and gives grades to them accordingly. In this way, by receiving their grades
students recognize their positions in the class. If their positions came to be low, they then try to
achieve higher positions by working hard because they want to achieve their goal of becoming great
persons. As it is the nature of all the human beings that no...show more content...
The farmer does his best to make his fields fit for better growth of the crops only in the hope of
getting a good variety of crops so that they may help him in earning high money. If he will not be
able to get high money by producing a good variety of crops he will probably increase his
working hours to achieve his purpose because he does his work only for earning money to live in.
Similar is the case with the students. Students work because they want their instructor to give
them high grades. Their future career depends on their grades they have made at this level. If
they got high grade their future will be bright because everyone gives credit to grades. Therefore,
if students will get credit for their work they will work even better for getting more and more
credit. Otherwise, they will shirk work hard. Furthermore, God will also give rewards to those
people who have done good deeds in this world. That is why; all people do their best of doing good
deeds so that they may be able to get reward from God on their sacrifices and hardships. If there
would be no reward from God, no one would want to do good deeds by facing hardships. Every
one would be free to committing sins or other bad deeds which will results in turmoil of the world.
Same is the case with the students. If the instructor gives them grades for their individual work they

My Life As A College Student Essay
Over the course of the last semester, I grew tremendously, not just as a writer but as a student. I
learned skills and tactics that will last me throughout my life and will benefit me once I begin the
next four years of my life as a college student. This early gateway into college writing provided me
with exposure to the expectations that I will face in the college classroom. This will come in
handy in the English classroom, as well as in every subject I will face over the course of the next
four years, and beyond. Writing is a key skill that communicates ideas and information, and is
essential to being successful. Whether I go into the music industry or find myself in a
completely unforeseen career, it is certain that I will use my writing skills at some point. This
class sharpened those skills and prepared me for the future in ways no high school english class
could. This class has challenged me to think more in depth than I ever have before. It forced me to
use my writing as a means of expressing knowledge, ideas, and facts in a clear organized manner. In
order to accomplish the goals of each paper assigned, I found new ways to present the same
information. For example, in every essay I included the theme that governments should be more
involved in the fight against cyber warfare. However, I presented this idea in each paper in different
forms. In the summary, I simply stated what an author of a certain article had to say about this idea.
In the critique, I discussed

Student Essay

  • 1. Being An Honor Student There happens to be more to being an honor student than just doing an excessive amount of classwork and homework. I sincerely believe that being an honor student means challenging that student to become a better and more versatile person. While there is still a lot of work to accomplish in the classroom, I feel that an honor student also challenges him or herself outside of school. For example, an honor student would partake in a sport to test him or herself physically. Or become a volunteer to help other students or non–students in a community. As stated in the foregoing paragraphs, being an honor student means more than just getting a passing grade in any subject. To be an honor student means to better one's own mental, emotional and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Being An International Student Essay Being accepted into a U.S university is obviously more challenging for a foreign student like you planning to study in America than for a U.S citizen. However, being a foreign (or "international") student does mean you have a different perspective that schools in the USA are valuable than the ones in your country. International students create a significant contribution to US campus life, as well as to college and university revenues. Consequently, USA colleges and universities admit and welcome international students. Which means that, although, you might want to overcome some obstacles as a way to study in America, international students can be seen as a valuable commodity here. U.S government needs you and your money to develop the country....show more content... Unfortunately, this choice is not immediately open to foreign students /international students studying in the United States on the student visa. Note: Working On Campus with a Student Visa: No Work Permit Needed for a Foreign Student /International Student Many US universities provide work–study programs to foreign students / international students. These jobs usually entail manning at the school help desk, working with the university library, or maybe even mowing the campus lawns. Payments from these jobs are generally low, but every dollar can help when it's time to purchase another textbook or if you intent to buy more foods to cook than eating microwave popcorn every night! Foreign students / international students are limited to working 20 hours weekly, off or on–campus (although off–campus needs a special international student work permit and is available once after the 1st academic year), so you shouldn't depend on work–study program to provide you with much money throughout the school year. During holidays and schools vacation, however, a foreign student / international student using the proper paperwork can work unlimited hours on–campus, so you could probably earn a reasonable amount over the summer Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Experience As A College Student Essay Introduction I have enjoyed the opportunity to be an active student in this class. I have been delighted to be able to speak in open discussions during lecture and I wish that more professors practiced this method. The objective of this paper is for me to demonstrate an understanding of my learning experiences through the information that I have learned over the duration of this course. I have chosen to focus on my experience as a college student as the main topic of my self–assessment. Many topic discussions in class have given me insight to the way that humans obtain and process information. The class sessions on confirmation basis, critical thinking and sleep were all very relatable to a returning college student like me. In the previous assessment, I discussed these key elements in detail regarding how I maintained a balance of normality in my life. In this paper, I will explain self–regulation and how the intrinsic method, extrinsic method, adaptation, and self–actualization all relate to learning as a college student. Past School Experience As anyone could imagine making the decision to return to school was not an easy one. I had been out of college since December of 2011. The last college that I attended was the University of Phoenix. I attended the ground campus in Sandy Springs, GA and the hour commute was killing me. Although I only attended school once a week the amount of time that was required for me to put into my class assignments was horrendous. I was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Describe Myself As A Student Describe yourself as a student and also your aspirations for the future. Please include examples from your personal academic and non–academic experiences. A sophomore at Downtown Magnets High School, I demonstrate passion in my education, ambition in fulfilling my personal and academic goals, and am an explorative student. My passion for learning is the result of my mindset, in that aside from finding education a necessity, it is enjoyable, challenging, and beneficial in fulfilling my future aspirations. For example, I find my Honors Advanced Mathematics class my most unique course. It builds upon my ability to critically think, present data or information, and understand higher–level math at a rapid pace. In particular, it is the ability to solve real–world situations and the underlying mystery mathematicians have yet to solve that intrigues me to continue learning. The class expects much of me, but I am aware that it is preparing me for college– and university–level math while providing me with the skills to pursue a career in Architectural/ Structural Engineering. Ambitious, I set objectives for myself and arrange to accomplish and excel in the process. For instance, I participated in my middle school's academic decathlon with a chance to represent my school in the mathematics single–subject exam. In doing so, I attempted to score a near perfect to perfect score. While the competition did not end the way I expected, I successfully gained a flawless score on the questions Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Personal Goals as a Student Essay My Personal Goals as a Student An obvious goal as a working adult returning to school is, of course, to earn a degree. My overall goal is no different than any other student, however, I also have several personal goals I hope to achieve while attending the University. Some of these goals are to acquire new skills and enhance my current business abilities, to apply what I learn in the classroom to forward my career, and to feel personal satisfaction of finishing something I started. Already having experience in the business world has proven to me that it is essential to have skills to maintain and improve daily functions. Three skills I'd personally like to improve on are my organizational, time management, and presentation...show more content... By just going through the motions of coming to work everyday, only getting done what has to be done, and going home at the end of the day, one might realize that an everyday routine can quickly turn into a mundane professional life. At the same time, if a person does all of these things, but shows a bit of initiative to gain more knowledge of the job, they may see an opportunity to slightly move up in the company. The latter is my situation. My experience and knowledge of my department and its systems have afforded me the opportunity to move up within the department over the past five years, but I'm beginning to see a limit of how far those skills alone will allow me to climb. Being an expert in my field of pharmaceutical benefits doesn't translate into managing personnel just as knowing how to complete a task doesn't mean I'm able to give a clear presentation on how it should be done. Sure, I've been rewarded for the work I've done and knowledge I've obtained, but at some point, my employer will eventually see that more is needed to continue to promote me to higher, more management focused positions. My goal is to complete these courses and obtain my degree to prove that, if the situation arises, I can be the right person for the job. A more personal goal of mine is to finish what I've started. • 6. My Journey As A High School Student Essay At around this time four years back, I was just beginning my journey as a high school student. I had decided that I wanted to tryout for my schools ' dance team. I had previously danced with a studio by the name of Barton and Williams School of Dance, since the age of three, so I was excited to learn that I could be on a team at my school. I received all of the information that was necessary regarding the tryout dates, along with the paperwork that would be needed. We had to learn two combinations, as well as the actual tryout dance, within three days. On the day of the judging portion of the tryouts, everyone received a number. The judges would throw us into groups of three or four by randomly choosing our numbers. We needed to perform the two combinations individually and the actual routine as a group. Once all of the groups were done, we had to wait for a good two or three hours for the results. Everyone had been so nervous. Finally, the judges entered the room and posted the list of the numbers of the people who had made the cut onto the wall. I was so excited to see my number on the list and to be able to say that I had made it. In the very beginning of the season, my team attended the National Dance Alliance camp, or NDA camp. This camp consists of nothing but dance for four days and three nights. It is located in Maryland, at Towson University, so we had to rent a bus in order to get there. About a month before camp, the team hired a guest choreographer to teach Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. I Am A First Generation College Student Essay I am a first generation college student that has made it to a higher education. I see myself as the second daughter, that has come out the land of pride and production. I am from Richmond, California, but that's just where I geographically from, when in reality I came from a strong family of immigrants. My parents both came to the United States as a young 26, and 24–year–old parents of one child. I did not come until two years later that I came, I came into the world, and was already marked with the name of an anchor baby. As I grow up I did not really know what I was, what I did was always question myself, am I just a reason to keep my parents here longer? Why am I called an anchor baby? I felt that I did not fit in but my schools I went to school always had a mixture of students. I did not know what I was or who I was, I had not direct connection to any ethnicity. When I was in elementary school there where a mixture of Whites, Asians, Latinos, and African Americans ethnicities, grow up in a multicultural area I didn't think about race or class as much as late in life. Race was a topic that I did not really think and talked about until I was placed into a private school that class was visible, and I began to be more aware or class and race. I would not talk about race or class at school, but I would wait to talk about it when I would get home. At the time I did not know what race really meant, I thought the race was just like ethnicity, I did not even think about race as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Why I Am An Expert Student Essay Student Success helped me learn many things I thought I knew well. The steps to becoming an expert student are often overlooked. In Student Success, there are four skills that were the most helpful to me which are Time Management, Notes Taking, Taking Tests, and Problem Solving. Although I knew of these seemingly common skills beforehand, my skills have increased significantly with the help of Student Success. Before I began to take this class, the way I managed my time was inefficient. I prioritized quite poorly and I had difficulties keeping up with important tasks. I often found myself procrastinating and I had trouble making room for studying and doing homework in my busy work schedule. As I stressed with time management, I asked myself, should I be managing my time this way? or am I even managing my time at all? Another problem I faced was the way I took notes. I often wrote down extensive amounts of information and organized it poorly. I managed to grow accustomed to my strategy and became oblivious to my lack of efficiency. I had problems paying attention to the way my instructors taught which led to minimal comprehension with extensive criteria written down. I did not have many problems with the way I took tests but I did have problems controlling my test anxiety before I read about techniques to handle it. I used to rush on my tests and I hardly checked my answers. I always asked myself whether I took my tests properly or not. Problem Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. I Am A Hard Working And Dedicated Student In daily life the term personality is very freely used by people with different meanings. Some people refer to the physical appearance like height, weight, color, body built, dress, voice, etc. Some other people refer to intellectual qualities like intelligence, activeness, way of speech, thinking and reasoning abilities, etc. However our psychological definitions tell us that personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One is understanding individual differences in particular personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other is understanding how the various parts of a person come together as a whole. Emotions are the intense feelings that are directed at someone or something. I have never thought of what my personality is, so when i was asked to write an essay on what my personality was it was just a great task for me to writing about my personality. Primarily, I am a hard working and dedicated student. I 've always put my best in everything that I 've done academically. I am not the type of person who gets put up to a big challenge and backs down. I will always rise to the peak of my production and accomplish my goal. On this description I will be describing myself in a wide variety of personality traits that are good, and bad. Such as: enthusiastic, organized, not friendly , calm and my bad ones are having a quick temper and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Life Of A College Student Essay Time sure does fly by! It feels as if it was just yesterday when we threw our graduation caps up in the air. What will our future hold after we enter the next chapter in our lives? Many are encouraged, debating, or even forced to enter their new chapter into the life of a college student. High school graduates are given limited options in the generation we live in today. We grow up to believe that success comes with the development of education as you grow from a pre–schooler to an adult. Many don't continue their education because they don't want to live off of a piece of paper their entire life. Parents and teachers influence students to continue their education after high school; it increases their chances for the future career they pursue. Graduates should continue their education because they gain independence, knowledge, and creates financial stability. Several students who have part time jobs believe they make enough money; therefore, they don 't consider being open–minded of future careers ahead of them. An example of a job that influences young adults to believe that they make enough money to maintain their lives already are factories like Walmart DC. Those students may be influenced by their parents because their mother or father didn't continue their education either while still conserving enough money in their savings account. Parents are role models to their kids whereas having motivation will only inspire students for further success. Some may think that they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Non Traditional Student Essay Stability in our everyday lives is really significant. Trying to balance out school, work and home may be a problem, particularly when it comes to nontraditional students. Nontraditional students are generally more stressed out than traditional students. As a nontraditional scholar, one must learn to stabilize them. Lack of time, transposing, and money are higher degrees of stress due to time management, hence I must find stability not only in professionalism but also at home. Struggling throughout the process of discovering myself and becoming whom I want to be. Setting aside a plan to be successful in all I want to do, time takes on a major role. It's exceedingly difficult for somebody to find a school and a job in the same area because of the economy, seems somewhat like the Great Depression. Traveling from school to work can be a bit tough for individual work and travelling to school full time, for example, you might have to depart school at 4:30 and be at work at 5:00 but your job is an hour away with no beginning of transit other than the CTA. It's uncommon now in days to find a job working part time because most people want to be part time as I only because I don't desire to look anywhere not home, schoolhouse, or work even if my studies are online, there's more of a commitment because it's almost as if you're teaching yourself. Traveling a distance from school and work may also stress you out because this has to do with time management as well what if the teacher holds you, or the bus is delayed, or the car won't start, now here's a write up because you can't seem to get to work on time. • 12. My Life As A Student My life as a student has been a fairly good one. I've received good grades throughout all my years of high school and pride myself as an intelligent individual. But my individual ability to grow and learn has been always changing and shifting as I have grown. I think that currently, I am at a low point in my mindset and learning ability, but there is hope on the horizon. This essay will explore the growth and mindset of Will Roser, and how I can grow as a learner, friend, and individual. As a student, I have some habits that I rely on, both good and bad. I am usually a good student, receiving above average grades and I am moderately happy with them. My strength is that I always get everything done on time. I never have an excuse because my work is always done. I pride myself on that fact. And although that may seem like a good quality, the fact that I procrastinate so much does affect how good that work may be. So yes, I always finish my work which is always a good thing, but it may be at the expense of my sleep schedule. I tend to do most of my work the day before, despite telling myself over and over again that it needs to be done earlier. Luckily I have hope for my habits as I am still young. I still have to work on my procrastination but I think that I can improve as long as I start to see the benefits of starting work early. As William James says in his essay Habit, "The period between twenty and thirty is the critical one in the formation of intellectual and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Most would agree that in order to be a good student it takes a great deal of hard work, time and self–discipline. A student who possess these strong characteristics will often times stand out from the rest of their classmates. In order to become a strong student, one must have motivation, positive self–esteem, positive self–talk, commitment and good study habits. Individuals who make healthy choices with their fitness and diet will find that they feel better about themselves. To keep a strong mind people need to consume the right foods and always make time in their busy schedules for exercise. Completing these simple tasks can boost a student's self–esteem and make sure they are performing at optimal level. In our society today, more students are daily telling themselves that they are not worthy or not smart enough. These negative thoughts people tell themselves are the number one force that can destroy one's self–esteem. Students should really attempt to use positive self–talk as much as possible. Positive self–talk is defined as any time in which individuals think or talk to themselves in a beneficial manner. Students should start off everyday on a positive note. One of these challenges will be attempting to manage a level of cultural and social diversity which may differ from what they are familiar with in their communities. First year students enter a new social realm as they begin their studies. They are forced to recreate their social world, as the meet new people and make new friends. A first yearstudent will be faced with making his/her own decisions about drugs, sex, alcohol and other. The social pressures of fitting in and making new friends affect first year students all over the world. Students face social pressures such as partying, drinking and taking drugs. It is also challenging for first years to make new friends as they are in an unfamiliar environment. There is a vast difference between South Africa's first year dropout rate and America's first year dropout rate. South Africa has a first year dropout rate of 50–60%, whereas the United States of America has a first year dropout rate of 30%. A possible reason for this vast difference is the admission requirements. South Africa has lower admission requirements than the US. Therefore students with lower marks are being accepted into university in South Africa and are dropping out sooner due to their low marks and not being able to handle the academic content. The United States has stricter acceptance rules which results in a lower dropout rate as the students that are accepted have higher marks and are able to handle the academic Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Me as a Student Me as a student "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn". A quote by Benjamin Franklin that has always been important to me, and in following it I have grown to be more and more confident in my learning. This led to a growth in my confidence, and inevitably allowed me to learn in a way that suited me. To believe in myself has and will always be my first priority. Throughout the last 18 years of my life, I have come to have many regrets, and have faced a range of difficulties. This constant notion of failure knocking at my door prompted my response of accepting it, only considering my failure as a way to learn from the experiences. I believe that how I choose to overcome these obstacles determines whether I will become successful or not. As many people say, we learn from our experiences and our mistakes, but there are very few people who actually choose to act upon it. I consider myself among those who accept their mistakes and as having the ability to resolve them. Being a free thinker, I always imagined myself as a number of different occupations as a child. When I was 8 I wanted to be a hair dresser, a stay at home mum, a social worker, a journalist and a flight attendant altogether. The older I got the more I began to realise that life goes by quickly and there is no way I could possibly accomplish everything I dreamt of as a child; and I should focus on one thing that I am passionate about and put my whole heart into it. So I began Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Characteristics Of A Good Student Essay A good student is someone who always tries to do the right thing and makes education an important priority. Being a good student in school is an excellent start on having a successful future. Motivation is the key to their success. There are many qualities to be considered a good student. Three of the most important qualities are maintaining good grades, having excellent behavior, and managing your time wisely. Trying to maintain good grades is very important when in school. Having grades like "A's" and "B's" for example will result in having many educational opportunities and rewards. Colleges, job companies, or scholarship committees will review grades and other information on a school transcript to see if that student is eligible and satisfy the requirements needed. GPA stands forgrade point average, so the higher the grade, the higher the GPA will climb up. This results in getting more money for college if the grade point average is an excellent score. There are some events and programs that reward students for having high and excellent grades. The National Honor Society is one of those programs. In order for a student's grade to stay on top, completing school assignments are an essential way to do so. It's not possible to get through or even pass a class without completing assignments. Usually, the class expectations will say for example quizzes are twenty–five percent, homework or classwork is fifteen percent, and tests are forty percent when it comes to grading work. What if the student just focuses on the bigger percentage? Even though the bigger percent has more impact on a student's grade, the smaller grade percentages can still affect the student if it has not been completed at all because it adds up and it still badly affects the grade. This is why completing assignments are important. Participation in a class setting will improve a student's grade because getting involved in the class discussions will help to understand the subject better. Some teachers even grade on participation, which can be an easy "A". The next quality of becoming a good student is the type of behavior you must show. Being respectful in the classroom is important because if a student is sent out for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. I Am A Graduate Student Essay As the fall semester is quickly winding down, I often catch myself reflecting on the fact that I will be completing my second semester as a graduate student. It certainly still is a surreal feeling for myself. I cannot even fathom the fact that I will be able to say that I have gotten through two semesters of graduate school. The reason I bring this up is because when I first started the graduate program, I would often wonder whether I belonged in graduate school. There was a sense of self–doubt. Therefore, I had trouble believing that I was worthy of being in this program. And, as ignorant as it may sound, I attributed my acceptance into the program to luck and fate. I believe one major reason for feeling that way is due to the fact that I am the first one in my family to attend college, so I felt incapable of achieving something that had never been done in my family. Furthermore, self–reflection allows for me to reflect back on my collegiate journey and reminisce on my own personal obstacles and challenges that I have dealt with. It also allows for me to be a more effective mentor. I see myself as a mentor who is empathic and understanding of those students who are also first–generation college students who may be experiencing similar issues. Not necessarily only being able to be an effective mentor when working with first generations students, rather learning new perspectives and understanding different cultural norms that can further assist me as I continue to develop Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Why Grades Are Important Essay Yes, grades are an effective means of motivating students to do their best work. If there were no grades why the students would like to work hard? Do not they want to enjoy luxury and comforts in their youth? Surely, students want to enjoy their youth with luxury and comforts. They can not judge themselves because they have no scale of judgment. It is the instructor only who judges the students comparatively and gives grades to them accordingly.
