2. Me, Myself and I
Hi! I’m Jane M. Cabral.
20 years of age. Currently residing at
Gen. E. Aguinaldo (Bailen), Cavite.
I’m taking up Bachelor of Secondary
Education Major in English at Cavite
State University-Main Campus, Indang,
Cavite.
5. Educational Technology (also
known as “EdTech”) refers to an area
of technology devoted to the
development and application of tools
(including software, hardware, and
processes) intended to promote
education.
6. Technology is no substitute for an inspiring teacher.
Information technology allows learning anywhere, anytime;
not just in one particular classroom for forty minutes a day.
7. Interactive simulations and illustrations can produce a much
greater depth of understanding of a concept. When virtual
manipulatives are used in a classroom setting they can go far
beyond chalk and talk.
8. Using a projector, the teacher can conduct onscreen
investigations and demonstrate concepts far more
easily than with just words and arm-waving.
9. The students have access to the same tools over the
web, they can reinforce the ideas by experimenting
with the simulations themselves, any time, any where.
Technology allows the tables to be turned.
10. Instead of teaching (push), students can be given projects that
require them to learn (pull) the necessary material themselves.
Key to this is the ability to get the information they need any
time anywhere, without being in the physical presence of a
teacher.
11. This project-based pull approach makes learning far
more interesting for the student. I have seen first-hand
how students cannot wait to get out of regular classes
to go to the after-school robotics project.
12. Using modern technology they can: Make a PowerPoint
presentation, record/edit spoken word, do digital photography,
make a video, run a class newspaper, run a web based school
radio or TV station, do claymation, compose digital music on a
synthesizer, make a website, create a blog.
13. A vital skill in the new digital world is the ability to work
collaboratively on projects with others who may not be
physically close. This can best be done using modern computer
tools such as the web, email, instant messaging and cell phone.
Rather than laboring alone on homework, students can work in
small groups wherever they happen to be and at any time.
14. The worldview of the student can be expanded because of
the zero cost of communicating with other people around
the globe.
15. Information technologies can permit them to break step
with the class and go at a pace and order that suits that
student better.
16. Without disrupting the class, they can repeat difficult
lessons and explore what they find interesting. With
time, it will become more like having a private tutor
rather than being lost in a large class.
18. The Education Technology 1 has truly paved the
way for the learner to become aware, appreciative and
equipped to use educational technology 1 tools ranging
from traditional to modern educational media.
19. On the application of educational technology to instruction.
Educational technology 1 showed the four phases of application of
educational technology in teaching- and- learning, namely: (a) setting of
learning objectives (b) designing specific learning experiences (c) evaluating
the effectiveness of the learning experiences vis-à-vis the learning
objectives, and (d) revision as needed of the whole teaching-learning
process, or elements of it, for further improving future instructional
activities.
21. Obviously, the main concern here is the technology. But
not the typical use of intenet, or not the way on how the students
can acquire the computer skills because it is not a computer
subject. However, the real thing that talks about here is that how
the teachers can incorporate the technology and Internet with the
successful learning.
22. We all grew up with the traditional set-up of classroom,
which, I suppose that everything the teacher used is almost out-
dated and obsolete. So, this subject will serve as an eye opener to
the future mentors like me, on what is in nowadays, the proper
teaching in which appropriate to the needs and desire of the
modern students.
24. Technology ushers in fundamental
structural changes that can be integral
to achieving significant improvements
in productivity. Used to support both
teaching and learning, technology
infuses classrooms with digital learning
tools, such as computers and hand held
devices; expands course offerings,
experiences, and learning materials;
supports learning 24 hours a day, 7
days a week; builds 21st century skills;
increases student engagement and
motivation; and accelerates learning.
25. Technology also has the
power to transform teaching
by ushering in a new model
of connected teaching. This
model links teachers to their
students and to professional
content, resources, and
systems to help them
improve their own
instruction and personalize
learning.
