The city of Cajeme, Mexico originated in 1906 when the South Pacific Railroad arrived in the area. A flag station was established in 1907 called Cajeme, named after a Yaqui leader who fought against the government. The local Yaqui population is largely Catholic due to evangelization by Jesuits. Birria, a spicy stew, is a traditional regional dish enjoyed year-round. The city features a warm desert climate and its economy includes agriculture, industry, livestock, fisheries and tourism.

The origins of the city date back to 1906 when the railway from the South

fisheries, trade, aquaculture and tourism.
Obregon has 298,625 inhabitants. For its part the Cajeme municipality has
409,310 inhabitants.

It is located south of the state, 50 km from the coast of the Sea of Cortez and
115 km of high mountains (above 1500 m), 240 km far from Hermosillo, the
state capital.
The city features a warm desert climate . The temperature in January, the
coldest month of winter, ranges from 6 ° (minimum) and 24 ° C (maximum);
in July, the hottest month of the summer, ranges between 24 ° C and 38 ° C.

Among the most abundant species are: Palo Verde, Palo Azul, mesquite,
Pitaya, Sina, Etcho, and Choya. But, by the use of soil and human
activities, the original vegetation has been virtually replaced in certain
areas; in the urban area by tree vendors of shadow, and palm trees for

Baseball is the sport that has largest number of fans in the city
approximately 60% of the people of the city calls amateur baseball, the
home team are the Yaquis of Ciudad Obregon, which participate in the
Mexican Pacific League.
