In pedagogy, the concern is with transmitting the content, while in andragogy, the concern is with facilitating the acquisition of the content. Andragogy is a theory developed by Knowles (1913-97) which differentiates the needs of adult learners from those of juveniles and uses the term andragogy to describe the specific methods which should be employed in the education of adults. The adult learner moves towards independence and is self-directing. The teacher encourages and nurtures this movement. The learner's experience is a rich resource for learning. Hence teaching methods include discussion, problem-solving etc. People learn what they need to know, so that learning programs are organized around life application. Learning experiences should be based around experiences, since people are performance centered in their learning. Andragogy requires that adult learners be involved in the identification of their learning needs and the planning of how those needs are satisfied. Learning should be an active rather than a passive process. Adult learning is most effective when concerned with solving problems that have relevance to the learner's everyday experience.

Putting Theory into Practice Since 1997, I have been teaching English to several managers of different banks in the city of Buenos Aires. When I started, most of my students were pre-intermediate and had an urgent need to improve their competence in the target language and develop oral communication skills. This need may have served as a source of extrinsic motivation, but I felt that it was not enough to sustain their interest in the long-term. Working with traditional textbooks did not seem to help either, so I decided to start adding extra material. I created a wiki with an enormour wealth of information. It was then that I decided to devote a portion of the lesson to events that were of interest to them. Soon, I realized that my learners became more involved in what they called “technology classes” rather than in the textbook .So I started designing ICT projects based on my students needs. The results I obtained encouraged me to leave textbooks aside and implement thematic projects that greatly engaged my learners, calmed their anxieties, lowered inhibitions and developed their oral and communication skills.

As Business English teachers we need to prepare our students with the 21st century skills needed to excel in today's demanding workplaces. New technologies have changed the landscape of information and knowledge. Technology is a tool that, when paired with effective instructional practices, enables students to develop critical thinking skills through collaboration, sharing, remixing, creating, and analyzing new content and applying that knowledge to real-world situations. Classes should be blended and must provide extra activities that are available online for students to continue learning after class. Teachers have to encourage students to be autonomous learners.
Caminito (&quot;little walkway&quot; or &quot;little path&quot; in Spanish ) is a street museum and a traditional alley, located in La Boca , a nei ghborhood o f Buenos Air es , Argentina . T he place acq uired cultural signific ance because it inspired the music for the famous tango &quot; Caminito &quot; (1926), composed by Juan de Dios Fili berto . It used to be a place where ma ny Italian immigrants, especially from Genoa, would settle down to build their houses on high sidewalks due to frequent floods. Among these immigrant families, were the parents of painter Benito Quinquela Martín, who in spite of not being his biological parents, took care of him and raised him in La Boca surrounded by the smell of the Riachuelo , the colorful houses and the high sidewalks. Later on, young Quinquela would start his work as an artist by painting marvelous portraits of the harbor sceneries from his childhood. Immigrants from Spain and Italy arrived in droves to Buenos Aires at the turn of the 20 th Century and most of the 4 – 6 million people ended up here. Homes were constructed from whatever materials that could found from the scrap yards and painted with whatever paint could be found or bought from the shipyards.
