School magazine mission statement
The name of my magazine is ‘Break time’; this is aimed at sixth form students. I
chose this name as it shows the contrast within the magazine contents as it
has a equal balance of gossip but is also educational with revision guides and
revision tips. The style of my magazine is fun and exciting but with some
educational aspects however not too much as students gets enough of those
in lessons, it is different as it offers help and advice rather than academic
teaching. The goals of the magazine are to inspire the reader to aim high in
their studies to help them cope and be the best they can be but to also
inform them of the things which are going on in their school. The magazine will
be distributed once a month, it will be handed to each student in form time
however there will also be some in the common room for students to read
during their free periods.
I promise to keep my readers feeling confident and offer an advice page for
those who are in need of their questions being answered. The topics within
my magazine will be an agony aunt which will offer advice and help to those
who send questions to them, a pictures page which will show them all the
latest events. An events page, this will be like a calendar of dates and
upcoming events. There will be a gossip page, this is where the reader can
find out all the latest gossip that is going on around the school, a revision tips
page which will help them with upcoming exams, advice on how to balance
a level with work and friends and a sports page about all the school teams,
captains and previous/upcoming games. The styles of articles will be helpful
and informative and straight to the point yet with a bit of attitude. This will be
a positive attitude inspiring the reader to aim high. There will be interviews
with some people who have done very well at a levels and tell the reader
about their journey to a good career. The effect upon my target audience
will be entertained, imformed and will learn to cope better with the pressures
of school life. It will encourage them to do extracurricular activities and help
them to achieve their goals and to succeed in and enjoy school.
