1. In developed countries with adequate sanitation and medical practices Leprosy is nearly unheard of. In underdeveloped and developing third world countries throughout Southeast Asia and other parts of the world, Leprosy is a fairly common occurrence. For hundreds of years those afflicted with Leprosy where shunned from the joys of daily social life. It caused strange deformations and lesions that were a result of bacterial infections which affected the skin and nervous system. Leprosy is a communicable disease that can be easily spread and has an incubation period as long as 3 years. Because of fear of the unknown, and the physical deformations that were caused by untreated Leprosy that led to skin infections of the lesions, people where ostracized because of their physical appearance. With today’s medications great strides are being made to eradicate the disease, but the social stigma still remains. Outreach Asia has helped to support hospitals, clinics, and outpatient programs that allow leprosy patients to be healthy, productive people again. These medical programs start by providing a Multi-Drug Therapy (MDT) which after several doses, depending on the severity of the bacterial infection, will cure the disease. These programs further address the issue by educating villagers on the cause and prevention of Leprosy through proper hygiene, good nutrition, and proper sanitation.

While this may seem a daunting task, by concentrating resources on the building of a solid infrastructure such as safe water supplies, upgrading educational resources, and addressing the medical needs and social pariah of leprosy, Outreach Asia has positively affected the lives of hundreds of people in the local communities they serve. Founded in 2000 by Mike & Gina Peck, Outreach Asia has strived to improve the impoverished lives of children and families living in the developing countries of Philippines.. Right now your generous donations are benefiting communities in, Vietnam and the Asia to stretch the generous dollars provided by grants and personal contributions and to use those funds where they are needed most…people who are poor and disadvantaged living in some of the world’s most Outreach Asia prides itself as a streamlined, efficient US 501(c)(3) Non-Profit charity organization, which provides over 96% of all donations to directly benefit those in need. Through a dedicated network of 100% volunteers, we minimize our administrative costs to just the bare necessities needed to provide these much needed services to the under-privileged of Southeast Asia.

4. This fiscal frugality allows .Outreach Asia was founded in 2000 by Mike and Gina Peck. Our mission is to improve the lives of the least fortunate in developing countries in Southeast Asia. In order to make the biggest difference, we focus our efforts on programs that build capacity, such as child and educational sponsorships, classrooms, housing, water systems, livelihood programs and medical assistance. Outreach Asia is an entirely volunteer organization whose administration costs represent less than 4% of our total yearly budget. As a result, 96% of all grants and donations go directly toward helping those who need it most – the poor and least advantaged of some of the world’s most under-developed countries.

5. For several years, we have been working with the Sisters of the Loving Cross in Ben tre, Vietnam and the Dominican Sisters in Mindanao, Philippines to help 262 people afflicted with leprosy. Christmas 2010 marked our third annual Christmas program. A $20 donation sponsored either a hamper of groceries and medicine to leprosy patients in Vietnam, or a hearty Christmas Eve dinner plus health care kit in the Philippines. Before we began this project, these people felt like no one on earth cared for them. thanks to your generosity, they now know this is not true

6. In addition to providing safe water supplies and proper educational opportunities, another burden on these communities is the Leprosy disease. For hundreds of years this disease has held many back from working their way out of poverty to a better life. Through Outreach Asia, we have established communities and aided clinics that provide the simple, yet essential medical treatment to overcome this affliction and also to provide emotional and occupational support to allow these people the chance of a normal life. 7. Each Christmas season, we ask sponsors to donate $20 to for a gift of health and food items for the people we serve in Vietnam and the Philippines who have leprosy.
