putting his work decades ahead of his time.
3. Why Dogs Bite
He did exhaustive research to refine the performance of
Seeing Eye dogs while they were under extreme duress in
front of the greatest distractions. His one-of-a-kind work
led to a previously unheard of success rate with his
Seeing Eye dogs. Previous to his research a 100% success
rate was unheard of and, what few people know, 85% of
the dogs he trained came from shelters where they were
scheduled to be euthanized for bad behavior. This is why
his motto for half a century has been, "No dog dies on my
watch." His work and research went with him when he
left the Seeing Eye in 1975 and is available only through
Jeff Loy's programs. See www.FriendToAnimals.com or

4. Why Dogs Bite
The number one reason for the failure of experts in today's
world of dog behavior is incorrect analysis. Hours of question
and answer history taking and clinical observation does not
result in adequate or accurate behavioral analysis. Jeff's forty
five years of data supports this conclusion since 95% of dogs
destroyed annually in the USA have been through extensive
training and behavioral analysis from the clinicians.
Strangely, all the research has led to the irrefutable fact that
the only 100% perfect analytical tool is the bite itself. That
is, the behavioral expert must both observe and experience the
mechanics of the bite itself. This is why Jeff Loy is the only
person known who's entire field of work, livelihood and
expertise is based on solving the expert's failed cases. This is
why he's been called the Red Adair of behavioral science.
5. Why Dogs Bite
A dog bites to display extreme emotion during
moments of high energy. The word 'bite' is
inflammatory and carries with it emotional baggage
which has no place in the field of behavioral
rehabilitation where the dog's life is on the line.
Think of it as the word 'hit' as applied to humans
where the implication is so provocative as to cloud
the judgement of the listener. Unlike the academics
who at best have only been able to catalog ten or so
bite types, Loy has cataloged well over 100 types of
bite mechanics. This is just one of the many things
that distinguishes his work from all others.
