2. Understanding Turnitin
• What is Turnitin?
• Why do we use Turnitin?
• How does Turnitin work?
– Compares your paper to millions of sources in its repository
– Results in an Originality Report with an originality percentage
– You must hand in a printed copy of the Originality Report with
your assignment
– Submit your assignment early so Turnitin has time to compile the
report (can take anywhere from 15 minutes – 2 days)
10. Once your paper is successfully
submitted, you will receive an email
notification.

12. To see if your Originality Report is ready, go back to
the Turnitin folder in the Course Documents section
and click on View/Complete.

15. After you click on the print/download icon

a dialog box will open:
If you are using a browser with pop-up blockers installed,
you will have to temporarily disable the pop-up blocker and click on
the print/download icon again for this box to appear.
16. After a few seconds, the dialog box will
change to tell you the download is ready:
17. Click on the link, and an Adobe dialog box will open.
Leave the bubble set to “Open with,”
and click OK to open the Originality Report.
19. Use the Print icon on the PDF to print out the Originality
Report, and turn it in to Dr. Fasullo with your paper.
