The Japanese culture is very homogeneous and influenced by traditions from the Edo period including Buddhism, Shintoism, the tea ceremony, and traditional arts like origami. The Japanese language uses three writing systems of kanji, hiragana, and katakana. Sports, education, and family structures have become more westernized in modern times compared to traditional patriarchal pasts.
