Climate analysis is done to
provide climate responsive
guidelines to all the
stakeholders during initial
conceptual and design phase
of the project.
Climate Analysis is also
required for EC clearances in
many states.

Sun path analysis
• It helps to understand the shade and shadow created by adjoining building.
• Depending on the shade and shadow pattern, the breakout spaces can be
designed to use even in the critical hours of the day.
• It also helps to design the massing, shape & orientation of the building.
At 0900 Hrs At 1100 Hrs

Shading analysis
• It helps to design the optimum shading necessary to shade the glazing.
• Understanding the amount of shading achieved due to shading devices in a
particular orientation helps to design the façade or any architectural
element.
Observation: More than 90% of the west building façade will be in shade from 0800 hrs to 1200 hrs. The façade
will not be in shade for more than 20% from 1300 hrs onwards.
West Orientation

Wind analysis
• It helps to understand the wind flow pattern with its velocity.
• Accordingly, the changes at the site plan level towards windward
orientation can be incorporated.
Prevailing wind direction for the
project would be NW- SW.

Solar Insolation analysis
• It will show the amount of solar radiation falling on the external surface.
• This would help designer to decide on the envelope materials, its
composition, use of insulation, etc.
• It also gives a good insight to the MEP consultant and device strategy for
critical zones.
