5. Research Before the actual filming took place it was necessary that we looked and analysed different Horror films that had a relation to our ideas of what we wanted our trailer to look like . The style of filming for this film was presented in a very amateurish manner this is so it is clear to the audience that we are looking through the actors perspective and is more real The trees at the top of the poster hints to the audience that the setting for this film is in the woods/forest In terms of poster design the picture is taken in manner which could suggest that it was taken by the person in the photo as it looks shoddy in a sense which adds to the effect of found footage. The trailers for these types of field always seem to have text in between the clips with facts like what is shown on ‘The Blair Witch’ poster.
6. Research When looking at horror trailers it is common convention for the opening scene or frame to be of a serene and peaceful nature this helps lures the audience into a false sense of security. So that when the fight or the ‘Scary part comes’ it comes as a shock the way they do this by placing the horror element in scene directly after the peaceful one. In a sense creating a juxtaposition and contrast which helps evoke more emotion and keeps potential viewers interested
7. Research In this poster they used a lot of negative space which kind of helps draw attention to the burning city in the background. The use of a globally recognisable figure helps create a sense of realism also the fact that it is ruined and decapitated draws the potential audience in to want to know more The use of typography and effect is used in the title which helps relate to the theme of the film, which is sci-fi. At the bottom of any movie poster they usually put a condensed version of credits going to the production, producer, stars, music by, director etc. The date and the title are at the bottom of the poster one could infer this is because a lot is happening in the middle and top third .
8. Research From researching different film magazine covers the analysis shows that most of the denotation on the front is to do with the theme of the film. That includes the colour way/scheme, effects and typography used. Another characteristic that seems to be a convention of film magazines is that the star or main character of the feature article is the cover model usually in their character role.
