2. KEY POINTS REQUIRED
• Internet
• Google AdSense
• Online survey
• Ghostwriter or freelance writer
• PayPal
• Blog (optional)
• Copywirter
3. INSTRUCTIONS PLANNING AN EBOOK
Internet
• Use a mix of creativity and business smarts and create an eBook that people would
want to read. Use keyword search tools to find out exactly what subjects people
search for online.
• Choose at least 20 subjects that are the most marketable and typically get at least
30,000 to 50,000 hits a day. Whittle the list to a few by using the criteria of
uniqueness and whether the topics are saturated on the Internet.
Google Adsense
• Sign up for Google AdSense. Create a one-page website with a survey asking what
people think of your eBook idea or what they may want to see. Google AdSense
helps bring traffic to your survey site by placing ads on the page that pertain to
your website topic. Eventually, you will use this to get visitors to your eBook site.
4. CREATING THE EBOOK
Online survey
• Study the data on your survey after just a few days and start to create your eBook
using any word-processing program. Keep the book under 40 pages and on topic
to keywords you researched earlier.
Ghostwriter or Freelance writer
• Hire a ghostwriter after writing a few of your own eBooks and selling them
independently through eBay or your website. Once you start turning healthy
profits, it is best to have other people do the writing.
• Look for bargain ghostwriters and general content producers through outsourcing
sites such as RentACoder. You can advertise your eBook project there and get bids
from freelance writers.
• Request use of SEO, or search engine optimization, in your eBooks. This means
your eBooks contain keywords that enable the books to place high on search
engines such as Google.
5. MARKETING
• Start selling your eBooks on your website using Google AdSense. If you
paid attention to trends and start offering multiple eBooks on a weekly
basis, you could be selling many of these and turning in big profits.
Set a PayPal
• Set up commerce on your website using PayPal so customers can buy and
download your eBooks.
• Market your eBooks through methods other than relying exclusively on
SEO and AdSense. Use mass email marketing to certain groups you know
would be interested.
• Visit forums on the net that pertain to the subject of your eBook. Leave a
link to your website in one of them and your site likely will receive visitors
within days if not hours.
6. Marketing…
Blogger
• Find blogs on the net that write about the subjects of your eBooks. Ask
the bloggers to review your eBook or start your own blog if you can find
time to write regularly. Buy an ad on a blog that is not yours but relates to
the topic of your eBook.
Copywriter
• It is best to hire a professional copywriter to study your eBook and make
sure it has all the right SEO words for maximum sales potential.
Copywriters can charge to tweak the eBook so it is more marketable
However, if you start turning out healthy profits within your first few
months, much of that expense can be recovered.
7. SOME ONLINE BOOK SITE
• Amazon
Amazon.com is perhaps the best-known name in online book shopping Amazon also sells
subscriptions to magazines and newspapers, so you can find virtually all printed matter at this
giant e-bookstore.
• Alibris
Alibris.com is great for finding out-of-print and rare books, as well as collector's copies that
have been signed by the author
• Abe Books
AbeBooks.com is a great place to find a variety of new, used, rare and out-of-print books. In
addition to their book sales, however, AbeBooks also offers an online community for readers.
• Book finder
While it's not technically an online bookstore, Bookfinder.com is an invaluable resource for
those searching for specific books to purchase online.
8. DESIGN ONLINE BOOKSTORE DATABASE
• Determine the fields you want the database to have. A field is an area that will hold
information. It can be assigned a custom name as long it does not have special characters or
spaces in it. The example fields we are going to use are book title, author, ISBN
• Assign a data type to each field. A data type is the type of information that will be stored in
that field. A few example data types are int (integer value), varchar (character string up to
255 characters) and text (character string up to 65,535 characters)
• Choose a name for the database. The name can be your choice but should relate to the
information the database will store. It is used only for referencing the database. In this
example, the name “bookstore” will be used.
• Create the Database. Run this command in your database editor:
• The only additional field that has been added is a field named “id.” This field is set to have a
property of “auto _increment,” meaning that each new entry that is added will have an id
number 1 greater than the last entry. The “id” will be used only for searching through the
database.
9. WORKING-ONLINE BOOKSTORES
Online Bookstores
• An online bookstore may sell new books, used books or both. Some businesses that sell
books online do business only online.
Selling Books
• Online book stores sell books on their website, community bookseller websites or both.
When an online bookstore sells through their own website, they list the books on the site
and keep 100 percent of the profits.
Accepting Payment
• If an online bookstore sells books on their website, they have to set up a payment acceptance
method. They can utilize the services of a PayPal account, get a merchant card account or use
an online store service to accept payments
Inventory
• Successful online bookstores must have a diverse and abundant inventory of books. Online
