ourlesson, I will show you some
pictures. Class, can you tell me
what’s in the picture?”
“Great! What else? Other
guesses?”
“Yes. Very good! So since you
said that she fell asleep because
she’s tired, or she intentionally
took a nap, what do you think will
happen next?”
“Very good! That can be a
possible outcome! Other ideas?”
“Yes that’s right! That might
“Ma’am I think she slept while
she’s doing her home works
because she’s too tired.”
“Or Ma’am! Maybe she’s sick
so she took a nap while doing
her projects.
“I think Ma’am she will be late
to school and she will be
scolded.”
“Ma’am, prior to the answer a
while ago, maybe she wouldn’t
be able to pass her
assignment because she will
not be able to finish it.”
B. Developmental Activity Choice Approach (Sectional Approach)
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity Duration
“Very good! So now, you will
listen to a tale from Panchatantra
entitled The Wedding of the
Mouse. Panchatantra is an
ancient Indian collection of
interrelated animal fables in verse
and prose, arranged within a
frame story. But first, you will be

happen. Thank you for your
answers! I have here another
picture. What do you think is
happening in the picture?”
“Okay, good! Yes there is a boy in
front of him and he’s eating and
texting while driving. So what do
you think will happen next?”
“Ma’am! A man was driving
while having a talk over the
phone, and there is a bike in
front of him.”
“Maybe ma’am he’ll encounter
an accident because he’s not
focused on his driving, also
there is a bike in front of him”
divided into five groups. This row
will be group one, the next row
will be group two, at the middle
will be group three, and then at
the back will be groups four and
five. I will be reading the first part
of the story, and then each group
must predict what will happen
next based on the question that
will be given. Are my instructions
clear?”
“Are you ready to listen class?”
“So I’ll read the first part of the
story, listen carefully.”
There was a beautiful hermitage
on the bank of river Ganges,
where a group of hermits lived in
peace.
The hermits were disciples of a
Guru, Yadnyavalkya, who was
always absorbed in meditation,
and followed rigorous self-
discipline.
One day, while he was bathing in
the river, a hawk flew over with a
mouse in its claws. Suddenly, the
“Yes Ma’am!”
“Yes Ma’am!”
mouse fell from the hawk's grip
right into the hands of the Guru.
When the Guru noticed that the
hawk was flying above, he knew
he cannot leave the mouse alone,
or he is to be caught again. He
put the mouse on a leaf of a
nearby Banyan tree, and took a
second bath to purify himself.
He used his powers to transform
the female mouse into a little girl,
and took her to the hermitage.
“Based on the story, what do you
think might happen next? Will the
guru take care of the mouse that
he turned into a girl or will he let
go of the girl and let her live
happily?”
“Yes very good! Other guesses?
What about group five?”
“Ma’am! Group one thinks that
the guru will take care of the
mouse turned-into-girl
because he showed care for
the mouse when the hawk flew
over the mouse, so he cares
for the mouse.”
“Ma’am, our group thinks that
the guru will let go of the
mouse-turned-girl so that the
“Good! Let’s see if which group
will have the right guess.”
He said to his wife, "My dear,
please accept her as our blessing,
as we do not have a child of our
own."
“Alright! So the guru took care of
the girl and he even introduced
the girl to his wife and let her be
their daughter. Group one is
correct with their answers! Let’s
listen to the next part of the story”
The teacher continues to read.
Thus, the girl started growing in
the hermitage, under the care and
supervision of the Guru himself.
She learnt many sciences, and
ways of life.
One day, the Guru's wife brought
into his notice that their girl had
reached marriageable age. They
decided to give it a serious
thought, as she was a special
girl can live happily on her
own.”
child and deserved a special
husband.
The next morning, using his
powers, the Guru summoned the
Sun God to him, and said,
"Please accept my daughter's
hand. I wish you to marry her, if
she chooses so."
“What do you think might happen
next? Will the girl accept the Sun
God? Group four, what’s your
guess?”
“That’s good! So let’s see if the
girl will accept the Sun God or
not.”
The teacher continues to read.
But the daughter said, "Father,
the Sun God lights up the entire
world, but he is unbearably hot
and fiery-tempered. I do not wish
to marry him. Please seek a
better husband for me."
“Ma’am we think that the girl
will not accept the Sun God
because the sun might be too
hot for her.”
“So in this part, the girl rejected
the sun because he is hot and
short-tempered! Group four is
correct! Very good! Let us go
back to the story.”
The teacher continues to read.
The Guru wondered, "Who might
be better than even the Sun
God?"
The Sun God advised, "Guruji,
you can seek the alliance of the
King of Clouds. He is superior to
me, for he can cover me and my
light."
So the Guru, using his powers,
summoned the King of Clouds,
and said, "Please accept my
daughter's hand. I wish you to
marry her, if she chooses so."
“What do you think might happen
next? Will the girl accept the King
of Clouds as her husband? Let’s
hear it from group three.” “Ma’am, group three thinks
that the girl will accept the
clouds as her husband
because the clouds are soft,
“Good! Let’s find out if that will
happen in this part.”
The teacher continues to read.
But the daughter said, "Father,
the King of Clouds is dark, wet
and too cold. I do not wish to
marry him. Please seek a better
husband for me."
“So the girl rejected the King of
Clouds because he is dark, wet,
and too cold. So group four’s
answer didn’t match with the next
event. That’s okay group four.”
The teacher continues to read.
The Guru wondered, "Who might
be better than even the King of
Clouds?"
The King of Clouds advised,
"Guruji, you can seek the alliance
of the Lord of Winds. He is
superior to me, for he can blow
me away."
So the Guru, using his powers,
lofty, and smooth.”
summoned the Lord of Winds,
and said, "Please accept my
daughter's hand. I wish you to
marry her, if she chooses so."
“So what do you think might
happen next? Do you think this
time the girl will accept the Lord of
the Winds as her husband?”
“That’s a great guess from group
three! Okay let’s see if their guess
is correct.”
But the daughter said, "Father,
the Lord of Winds is too fast and
restless. He keeps changing his
direction. I do not wish to marry
him. Please seek a better
husband for me."
“So again, the girl rejected the
Lord of the Winds because he’s
too fast and he always changes
direction. Group three is correct
with their answer! Very good
group three! Let us go back to the
story.”
“Group three thinks that the
girl will reject the Lord of
Winds because the Lord of
Winds might blow her away
when there are strong winds.”
The teacher continues to read.
The Guru wondered, "Who might
be better than even the Lord of
Winds?"
The Lord of Winds advised,
"Guruji, you can seek the alliance
of the Lord of Mountains. He is
superior to me, for he can stop
me from blowing."
So the Guru, using his powers,
summoned the Lord of Mountains,
and said, "Please accept my
daughter's hand. I wish you to
marry her, if she chooses so."
“What do you think might happen
next? Do you think, this time the
girl will accept the Lord of the
Mountains?”
“Great guess group three! Let’s
see if their guess will happen
“Group one thinks that the
Lord of mountains will be
accepted by the girl because
the Lord of Mountains is
strong and cannot be blown by
the Lord of Winds. He’s much
better than the Lord of Winds.”
next.”
But the daughter said, "Father,
the Lord of Mountains is too hard
and rigid. He is immovable. I do
not wish to marry him. Please
seek a better husband for me."
“So again, the girl rejected the
Lord of Mountains. Group three’s
answer did not match with the
event happened in the story.
That’s okay. There are other
questions left. Let’s go back in the
story.”
The teacher continues to read.
The Guru wondered, "Who might
be better than even the Lord of
Mountains?"
The King of Mountains advised,
"Guruji, you can seek the alliance
of the King of Mice. He is superior
to me, for he can make holes all
over me."
So the Guru, using his powers,
summoned the King of Mice, and
said, "Please accept my
daughter's hand. I wish you to
marry her, if she chooses so."
“This time, the guru summoned
the King of Mice. Do you think this
time, the girl will accept the King
of Mice?”
“Great! So let’s find out if the girl
will accept the King of Mice.”
When the daughter met the King
of Mice, she was delighted and
shyly agreed to the marriage.
“Yes! Group five is correct!
Finally, the girl accepted the King
of Mice as his husband. Very
good! Now let’s listen to the last
part of the story.”
The teacher continues to read.
The Guru transformed her
daughter to a beautiful female
mouse, for her to perform all
household duties of her clan.
Thus, the Guru's daughter was
married.
“For group five, I think she will
now accept the King of Mice
because maybe the King of
Mice can relate with her
because she was once a
mouse before.”
“Yes. In the end, the guru
transformed the girl into a mouse
so that she can serve her
husband well as a mouse. Group
two is correct! Let’s give a round
of applause for all the groups who
have participated in this listening
activity. So how did you come up
with your guesses earlier?”
“That’s right! So what you did
earlier is called predicting
outcomes. Predicting outcomes is
guessing what will happen next
after a certain event has occurred.
As you did earlier, you searched
for clues in the story that might
lead in the next event. Also, you
use your background knowledge
or information that you already
know. Do you understand class?”
“Sometimes, it can happen that
you might have different guesses
or predictions because clues can
be interpreted in different ways.
“We arrived on our answers
based on what happened
before. It’s like we looked for
clues so that we can guess
what will happen next.”
“Yes Ma’am!”
But what’s important is that you
think carefully in predicting
outcomes. Like for example in the
first part of the story, some
predicted that the guru will take
care of the girl and some groups
predicted that the guru will let go
of the mouse and let her live
happily. That is because you have
interpreted the clues in the story
in different ways. Do you
understand class?”
“Yes Ma’am”
C. Closing Activity
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity Duration
Summary/Generalization
“So in the story, as you listen, you
are able to predict outcomes. Why
do you think predicting outcomes
is important?”
“Very good! It will help you in
arriving at right decisions. So may
someone summarize our
discussion for today?”
“I think predicting outcomes is
important because by
predictions, you can prepare
on the event that will happen
next and it will also give you
clues in making good
decisions.”
“Yes ma’am! Today, we talked
about predicting outcomes. It
is guessing what will happen
after a certain event has
10 minutes
“Thank you for your answer! I am
sure now that the class fully
understood our lesson for today.”
Let us go back to the story. What
have you realized after listening to
the tale?”
“Yes. Whatever happens, one’s
true self will always remain. Why
do you think the girl chose the
King of Mice?”
“Yes, correct, because you will
only like someone of your same
kind and identity. If you were the
girl, whom among the Kings/Lords
will you choose to be your
husband? Why?”
occurred. In predicting, you
need to search for clues,
consider your background
knowledge so that you can
have right predictions.”
“For me Ma’am, I realized that
that we should know ourselves
more because no matter what
happens; our true self will
never change deeply.
“Ma’am I think because the girl
sees herself to the King of
Mice since she was once a
mouse before.”
“Ma’am maybe I will choose
the Lord of Mountains
because he is strong and
hard, he can protect me
“Okay that’s good! You’ll choose
the mountains so that he can
protect you. Other answers?”
“That’s great! Thank you for your
answers. So you see, if you really
know yourself, no matter what
happens, you will still be the same
and of course, you can make
good decisions for yourself once
you really know who you are
because in the end, your true self
will prevail.
Application
So for now, you will work in five
groups, same groups in the
listening activity earlier, groups
one, two, three, four, and five.
Then, you need to show the
importance of knowing your true
self and you will show it through a
poster. Each group will be given a
marker and cartolina. You may
also use your art materials. You
will be given five minutes to work
against heavy rains, too much
heat, and strong winds.”
“Ma’am! I’ll choose the Lord of
Winds because he can bring
me to places I want to go
because he changes direction
anytime he wants.”
10 minutes
on your poster and a minute to
present it briefly in class. Choose
one representative each group.
Your time starts now.”
“Time is up! It’s time to settle
down and present your poster.
Group five will be the first to
present followed by groups four,
three, two, and one.”
Evaluation
“Let’s give a round of applause for
your classmates who worked on
these creative posters! Now, you
will have a quiz.
Explain how you can predict
outcomes in two to three
sentences. Then, you need to
predict what will happen next in
the following situations.
a. The storm began suddenly.
The lightening lit up the sky
and the thunder roared
loudly. The electricity was

blinking on and off quickly.
b. Marie is getting herself some
soda. She begins to pour
the soda and her hand slips.
Her soda is all over the floor.
Marie knows her mom will
not be happy if she sees the
mess. What do you think
Marie will do next?
“Write your answers in a half
sheet of paper, crosswise. You
only have three minutes to finish
your quiz.”
“Time’s up! So now pass your
papers.”
“Class, do you have any
questions regarding our lesson?”
For your assignment, read Listen
to a song entitled A Mass for the
end of Time by Franco and find
out the message of the song. Is it
clear?
“Good! So it’s already time. Good
bye class. See you tomorrow.
Students will answer their
quiz.
Students will pass their
papers.
“None Ma’am!”
Yes ma’am.
Don’t forget your assignments for
tomorrow.” “Goodbye and thank you
Ma’am!”
IV. ASSIGNMENT

Routine Activity Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity Duration Greeting “Good morning class!” Prayer “Please stand and let’s pray first.” Routine “You may all sit down. Secretary, is someone absent for today?” “So how’s your day so far?” Motivation “Okay! That is good to hear. I hope our day will be good all “Good morning ma’am!” “Lord, thank you for all the blessings you have given to us. Thank you we made all here at school safe. Continue to guide us oh Lord and give us the knowledge, wisdom, and attitude so that we may grasp all the lessons that we need to learn this day. All of these prayers we pray, in Jesus name, Amen.” “None Ma’am.” “Ma’am! Somehow it’s good for us!” 2 minutes 2 minutes 1 minute 5 minutes

So since you said that she fell asleep because she’s tired, or she intentionally took a nap, what do you think will happen next?” “Very good! That can be a possible outcome! Other ideas?” “Yes that’s right! That might “Ma’am I think she slept while she’s doing her home works because she’s too tired.” “Or Ma’am! Maybe she’s sick so she took a nap while doing her projects. “I think Ma’am she will be late to school and she will be scolded.” “Ma’am, prior to the answer a while ago, maybe she wouldn’t be able to pass her assignment because she will not be able to finish it.”
  • 5. B. Developmental Activity Choice Approach (Sectional Approach) Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity Duration “Very good! So now, you will listen to a tale from Panchatantra entitled The Wedding of the Mouse. Panchatantra is an ancient Indian collection of interrelated animal fables in verse and prose, arranged within a frame story. But first, you will be 25 minutes happen. Thank you for your answers! I have here another picture. What do you think is happening in the picture?” “Okay, good! Yes there is a boy in front of him and he’s eating and texting while driving. So what do you think will happen next?” “Ma’am! A man was driving while having a talk over the phone, and there is a bike in front of him.” “Maybe ma’am he’ll encounter an accident because he’s not focused on his driving, also there is a bike in front of him”
  • 6. divided into five groups. This row will be group one, the next row will be group two, at the middle will be group three, and then at the back will be groups four and five. I will be reading the first part of the story, and then each group must predict what will happen next based on the question that will be given. Are my instructions clear?” “Are you ready to listen class?” “So I’ll read the first part of the story, listen carefully.” There was a beautiful hermitage on the bank of river Ganges, where a group of hermits lived in peace. The hermits were disciples of a Guru, Yadnyavalkya, who was always absorbed in meditation, and followed rigorous self- discipline. One day, while he was bathing in the river, a hawk flew over with a mouse in its claws. Suddenly, the “Yes Ma’am!” “Yes Ma’am!”
  • 7. mouse fell from the hawk's grip right into the hands of the Guru. When the Guru noticed that the hawk was flying above, he knew he cannot leave the mouse alone, or he is to be caught again. He put the mouse on a leaf of a nearby Banyan tree, and took a second bath to purify himself. He used his powers to transform the female mouse into a little girl, and took her to the hermitage. “Based on the story, what do you think might happen next? Will the guru take care of the mouse that he turned into a girl or will he let go of the girl and let her live happily?” “Yes very good! Other guesses? What about group five?” “Ma’am! Group one thinks that the guru will take care of the mouse turned-into-girl because he showed care for the mouse when the hawk flew over the mouse, so he cares for the mouse.” “Ma’am, our group thinks that the guru will let go of the mouse-turned-girl so that the
  • 8. “Good! Let’s see if which group will have the right guess.” He said to his wife, "My dear, please accept her as our blessing, as we do not have a child of our own." “Alright! So the guru took care of the girl and he even introduced the girl to his wife and let her be their daughter. Group one is correct with their answers! Let’s listen to the next part of the story” The teacher continues to read. Thus, the girl started growing in the hermitage, under the care and supervision of the Guru himself. She learnt many sciences, and ways of life. One day, the Guru's wife brought into his notice that their girl had reached marriageable age. They decided to give it a serious thought, as she was a special girl can live happily on her own.”
  • 9. child and deserved a special husband. The next morning, using his powers, the Guru summoned the Sun God to him, and said, "Please accept my daughter's hand. I wish you to marry her, if she chooses so." “What do you think might happen next? Will the girl accept the Sun God? Group four, what’s your guess?” “That’s good! So let’s see if the girl will accept the Sun God or not.” The teacher continues to read. But the daughter said, "Father, the Sun God lights up the entire world, but he is unbearably hot and fiery-tempered. I do not wish to marry him. Please seek a better husband for me." “Ma’am we think that the girl will not accept the Sun God because the sun might be too hot for her.”
  • 10. “So in this part, the girl rejected the sun because he is hot and short-tempered! Group four is correct! Very good! Let us go back to the story.” The teacher continues to read. The Guru wondered, "Who might be better than even the Sun God?" The Sun God advised, "Guruji, you can seek the alliance of the King of Clouds. He is superior to me, for he can cover me and my light." So the Guru, using his powers, summoned the King of Clouds, and said, "Please accept my daughter's hand. I wish you to marry her, if she chooses so." “What do you think might happen next? Will the girl accept the King of Clouds as her husband? Let’s hear it from group three.” “Ma’am, group three thinks that the girl will accept the clouds as her husband because the clouds are soft,
  • 11. “Good! Let’s find out if that will happen in this part.” The teacher continues to read. But the daughter said, "Father, the King of Clouds is dark, wet and too cold. I do not wish to marry him. Please seek a better husband for me." “So the girl rejected the King of Clouds because he is dark, wet, and too cold. So group four’s answer didn’t match with the next event. That’s okay group four.” The teacher continues to read. The Guru wondered, "Who might be better than even the King of Clouds?" The King of Clouds advised, "Guruji, you can seek the alliance of the Lord of Winds. He is superior to me, for he can blow me away." So the Guru, using his powers, lofty, and smooth.”
  • 12. summoned the Lord of Winds, and said, "Please accept my daughter's hand. I wish you to marry her, if she chooses so." “So what do you think might happen next? Do you think this time the girl will accept the Lord of the Winds as her husband?” “That’s a great guess from group three! Okay let’s see if their guess is correct.” But the daughter said, "Father, the Lord of Winds is too fast and restless. He keeps changing his direction. I do not wish to marry him. Please seek a better husband for me." “So again, the girl rejected the Lord of the Winds because he’s too fast and he always changes direction. Group three is correct with their answer! Very good group three! Let us go back to the story.” “Group three thinks that the girl will reject the Lord of Winds because the Lord of Winds might blow her away when there are strong winds.”
  • 13. The teacher continues to read. The Guru wondered, "Who might be better than even the Lord of Winds?" The Lord of Winds advised, "Guruji, you can seek the alliance of the Lord of Mountains. He is superior to me, for he can stop me from blowing." So the Guru, using his powers, summoned the Lord of Mountains, and said, "Please accept my daughter's hand. I wish you to marry her, if she chooses so." “What do you think might happen next? Do you think, this time the girl will accept the Lord of the Mountains?” “Great guess group three! Let’s see if their guess will happen “Group one thinks that the Lord of mountains will be accepted by the girl because the Lord of Mountains is strong and cannot be blown by the Lord of Winds. He’s much better than the Lord of Winds.”
  • 14. next.” But the daughter said, "Father, the Lord of Mountains is too hard and rigid. He is immovable. I do not wish to marry him. Please seek a better husband for me." “So again, the girl rejected the Lord of Mountains. Group three’s answer did not match with the event happened in the story. That’s okay. There are other questions left. Let’s go back in the story.” The teacher continues to read. The Guru wondered, "Who might be better than even the Lord of Mountains?" The King of Mountains advised, "Guruji, you can seek the alliance of the King of Mice. He is superior to me, for he can make holes all over me." So the Guru, using his powers, summoned the King of Mice, and said, "Please accept my daughter's hand. I wish you to
  • 15. marry her, if she chooses so." “This time, the guru summoned the King of Mice. Do you think this time, the girl will accept the King of Mice?” “Great! So let’s find out if the girl will accept the King of Mice.” When the daughter met the King of Mice, she was delighted and shyly agreed to the marriage. “Yes! Group five is correct! Finally, the girl accepted the King of Mice as his husband. Very good! Now let’s listen to the last part of the story.” The teacher continues to read. The Guru transformed her daughter to a beautiful female mouse, for her to perform all household duties of her clan. Thus, the Guru's daughter was married. “For group five, I think she will now accept the King of Mice because maybe the King of Mice can relate with her because she was once a mouse before.”
  • 16. “Yes. In the end, the guru transformed the girl into a mouse so that she can serve her husband well as a mouse. Group two is correct! Let’s give a round of applause for all the groups who have participated in this listening activity. So how did you come up with your guesses earlier?” “That’s right! So what you did earlier is called predicting outcomes. Predicting outcomes is guessing what will happen next after a certain event has occurred. As you did earlier, you searched for clues in the story that might lead in the next event. Also, you use your background knowledge or information that you already know. Do you understand class?” “Sometimes, it can happen that you might have different guesses or predictions because clues can be interpreted in different ways. “We arrived on our answers based on what happened before. It’s like we looked for clues so that we can guess what will happen next.” “Yes Ma’am!”
  • 17. But what’s important is that you think carefully in predicting outcomes. Like for example in the first part of the story, some predicted that the guru will take care of the girl and some groups predicted that the guru will let go of the mouse and let her live happily. That is because you have interpreted the clues in the story in different ways. Do you understand class?” “Yes Ma’am” C. Closing Activity Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity Duration Summary/Generalization “So in the story, as you listen, you are able to predict outcomes. Why do you think predicting outcomes is important?” “Very good! It will help you in arriving at right decisions. So may someone summarize our discussion for today?” “I think predicting outcomes is important because by predictions, you can prepare on the event that will happen next and it will also give you clues in making good decisions.” “Yes ma’am! Today, we talked about predicting outcomes. It is guessing what will happen after a certain event has 10 minutes
  • 18. “Thank you for your answer! I am sure now that the class fully understood our lesson for today.” Let us go back to the story. What have you realized after listening to the tale?” “Yes. Whatever happens, one’s true self will always remain. Why do you think the girl chose the King of Mice?” “Yes, correct, because you will only like someone of your same kind and identity. If you were the girl, whom among the Kings/Lords will you choose to be your husband? Why?” occurred. In predicting, you need to search for clues, consider your background knowledge so that you can have right predictions.” “For me Ma’am, I realized that that we should know ourselves more because no matter what happens; our true self will never change deeply. “Ma’am I think because the girl sees herself to the King of Mice since she was once a mouse before.” “Ma’am maybe I will choose the Lord of Mountains because he is strong and hard, he can protect me
  • 19. “Okay that’s good! You’ll choose the mountains so that he can protect you. Other answers?” “That’s great! Thank you for your answers. So you see, if you really know yourself, no matter what happens, you will still be the same and of course, you can make good decisions for yourself once you really know who you are because in the end, your true self will prevail. Application So for now, you will work in five groups, same groups in the listening activity earlier, groups one, two, three, four, and five. Then, you need to show the importance of knowing your true self and you will show it through a poster. Each group will be given a marker and cartolina. You may also use your art materials. You will be given five minutes to work against heavy rains, too much heat, and strong winds.” “Ma’am! I’ll choose the Lord of Winds because he can bring me to places I want to go because he changes direction anytime he wants.” 10 minutes
  • 20. on your poster and a minute to present it briefly in class. Choose one representative each group. Your time starts now.” “Time is up! It’s time to settle down and present your poster. Group five will be the first to present followed by groups four, three, two, and one.” Evaluation “Let’s give a round of applause for your classmates who worked on these creative posters! Now, you will have a quiz. Explain how you can predict outcomes in two to three sentences. Then, you need to predict what will happen next in the following situations. a. The storm began suddenly. The lightening lit up the sky and the thunder roared loudly. The electricity was The students will work with their groups. Group one will first present their poster, followed by groups two, three, four, and five. 5 minutes
