2. Plant Anatomy Study of tissue and cell structure of plants. Course Code: Biology 101 Credit: 4 units (2 unit lec; 2 unit lab) Prerequisite: Bio 21 or equivalent

3. Requirements and Grading System Lecture—50% 3 Long Exams –85% Quizzes– 10% Recitation/Attendance –5% Laboratory—50% (see your lab instructor)

4. Passing the course and academic policies Final grade of 3.0 or 60% Student must pass both components (lec and lab). Otherwise, a failing grade will be given Any form of cheating merits a grade of 5.0 No make-up for missed exams except for valid pre-arranged absences or medical emergency Students who have a pre-final grade of 2.5 or better may not take the final exam Students who missed an exam automatically will take the final exam

5. Rules on attendance and tardiness Students must not miss more than 3 meetings otherwise the student will be forced to drop the course. Arriving more than 30 minutes late is considered absent already. No make up quizzes for late comers.

6. Computation of grades Pre-final grade (PFG)= 50% lec grade + 50% lab grade Final grade= 80% PFG + 20% Final exam

7. Expectations Any biology course would be very difficult for any student who will always cram for the exam Read topics from books (see syllabus for list of books) and be sure you understand them Be sure you come prepared in every meeting. Quizzes are usually given every meeting (Submit a bluebook for you quiz booklet)

8. Rule of conduct The class period is dedicated for your study of Biology 101 so make the most of it. Do not do any irrelevant activities in the class because it is a sign of lack of interest and disrespect to your instructor. Do not bring drinks and food inside the class. If you are hungry, eat your food outside the room. Pay attention to the lecture always. Do not concentrate on writing all the stuffs the instructor is discussing. Focus on understanding the concept being discussed. Lectures will be uploaded in the internet.
