TODAY’S SESSION • Explore two popular digital content curation tools - Pinterest and Scoopit • Discover how you can create topics related to your curriculum/topic • Use either/both for your own professional networking • Curate your own board/s on a topic - provide annotations to the websites/resources you’ve located • Search for information that has been shared by others on similar topics – rich sources of information • Consider how you could use one of these tools in your teaching

- What is this image suggesting about the Internet? The amount of information is overwhelming (both for ourselves and our students). The problem is how we are able to use the find and USE the information without drowning. HENCE – web tools/apps that you can use to curate the information you find on the web and want to keep ORGANISED.

- Student to student collaboration – great exercise for higher-order thinking. Students have to annotate the resource. Coming up with connections and understanding of the material.
- Briefly – view my Pinterest page – www.pinterest.com/jasmont11 1. Create a new board Secret boards - secret board is only visible to you and people you invite to it. When you add a Pin to a secret board, it won’t show up anywhere else on Pinterest—not in the category sections, search results, your followers’ home feed, your own home feed or even the Pins section of your profile. Your secret boards are at the bottom of your profile. Just scroll down to see them. Group boards – invite people to a board. Go to selected board – Makerspaces. Click on edit – who can add pins Demo pinning – Pin Google Sky or 100,000 stars (both Google experiments) to Google Tools for the Classroom board. 4. Demo re-pinning – search Google Art Project and place in Google Tools for the classroom board. 5. How I am using Pinterst for gathering and sharing resources from ISTE.
- Explain what I like about Scoop.it – layout, magazine style. Good for professional networking – professional layout compared to Pinterest (personal opinion). Scoop.it Education – publish up to 20 topics and have up to 30 co-curators per topic
