2. This is a very interesting music video because the follow song in the album, which also has a music video, shows the same
people and continues the story from this one. The beginning of the music video starts with pink smoke and the title of the
song and artist name comes up, as this is a different genre of music then the previous ones that I have looked at the
differences are already seen.
The shots are more set up and have been thought about rather than pov shots which my other deconstructions used, the
mid and long shots are effective as they show fully the surroundings of which it is located. Zoom shots are used to
increase the depth of field making it feel after away. Two zoom shots are used after each other making it feel even longer
and a smooth change of location.
3. The camera tracks the characters in this music video making the audience feel apart of the video. Parallel editing has
been used to make the audience think that two different events happing at the same time, this shows that they are
linked. As the video goes on, the long takes make the video seem longer but juxtaposes the event happening as it seems
as though two of the characters are being tracked down by the others.
A worms eye angled shot gives the impression that the women is telling the young boy something important as she has
been made to seem bigger and more significant.
4. The heart shaped necklace that this character is wearing is shown in a very close up this focuses the audiences’
attention on it, this is a invasive shot as big close up shots are generally felt to be private space this makes the
audience feel as though they know something that no one else does and are given an insight to the character.
Hearts usually symbolise love this makes the audience wonder what that women and young boy have to do
with each other as they shots keep cutting between them.
5. A long shot is used to emphasise the background this creates the sense of space. The off centred background
throws off the balance of the audience this makes them unsort about who is in the car and whether to trust
them.
No diegetic sound is used in this music video, leaving the only sound to the song itself, this lets the audience
just listen to the song.
6. Pull focus, the unfocused legs makes the audience unclear about what is happening, they then come into focus
like we now know what is happening. It is uncertain how the women working in the diner and the women in
the white dress know each other but as the diner women holds her stomach we presume that she has
something to do with the young boy.
Short shots are used when the women in white is trying to find the young boy in the room, this creates tension
about where he has gone and makes the audience worry.
