Technical Unification: Single platform should be the enabler which contains a package of technical features and functionalities to perform different tasks. As an example, single system to send messages, collect replies, start conversations through social media, chat bots and assign tasks to different stakeholders. Technically, each of these have unique mechanism and having all in a consolidated platform would be an interesting.
Service Unification: Multiple departments or the business units (HR, Marketing, Finance) should be able to use a single platform to perform all of there communication based services, without having department wise multiple applications.
There are 3 main barriers when converging communication, since the technology and the services are closely interconnected to each other.
