Objectives
To raise awareness of farmers in the four GN divisions of the three
districts on effects of climate change
To introduce climate change adaptation measures to the targeted
farmers and develop their capacities to face challenges posed by climate
change
Expected Outputs
Improvement in knowledge and skills of climate change adaptation
measures of the targeted farmers
Renovation of identified minor tanks and tank operations and
establishment of management committees
Development of catchment areas of minor irrigation tanks
Introduction of drought resistance crops to the farmers and their
cultivation
Improvement in the livelihoods and homesteads of targeted farmers

Lessons Learned
• Preparation of Operation & Maintenance plan and establishment of O&M
fund improved productive usage of village level irrigation system.
• Tree planting program to develop catchment area with school children was
successful with a follow-up mechanism promoting the planting of trees in
their names.
• Home gardening program had positive results through the introduction of
new technologies such as nursery management using `Jify‘ pellet system.
• The risk of climate change could be minimized by introducing drought
resistant crops like `Tibbatu’ ,and `Tumbakaravila’ as alternative livelihood
