6. Introduction
Education in the twenty-first century demands a balance between
continuity and change. Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC) was
among the first to realize this transition and its challenges. The
PGC, therefore, submitted a petition to the Government of the
Punjab, and establish a university in the province. The charter to
establish the University of Central Punjab (UCP) was awarded in
April 2002. It is a private sector university. Its main campus located
in Johar Town Lahore, Pakistan as well as it has its branches in
different cities of Pakistan. UCP offers undergraduate, graduate as
well as postgraduate programs in the fields of Engineering,
Computer Science, Pharmacy, Business, Commerce, Arts and
Social Sciences.
7. History
On 15 August 1996, PGC petitioned the Government of Punjab for the
establishment of a University in the province.
On 11 October 1999, In response to this petition Government issued a
No Objection Certificated (NOC) and university established in the same
year.
Initially offered courses, Punjab College of Business Administration
(PCBA), Punjab Institute of Computer Science (PICS), Punjab College
of Commerce (PCC), Punjab Law College (PLC) and Punjab College of
Information Technology (PCIT) formed the core of the University at the
time of establishment.

The Faculty of Engineering (FOE) was introduced in 2002.
Over a period of 28 years, PGC has grown into the largest educational
network in Pakistan providing top quality education from Playgroup to
PhD with a student body of 259,000.
UCP Gujranwala campus was established in 2013.
The Punjab Group consists of Educational Excellence, National
Communications Services, Tower Technologies and National
Educational Network. Which have been set up in 2010 for the purpose
of franchising Elementary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Education
across the country in the form of Schools and Colleges.

14. Rules and Regulations
All Students must abide by the University Rules,
Regulations, Policies and Guidelines as may be
promulgated by the University Administration from
time to time. Breach of these Rules, Regulations,
Policies and Guidelines shall render them liable to
disciplinary, administrative and legal action including
but not limited to imposition of fine, suspension or
expulsion (both provisional and permanent) from the
University.
15. Scholarship
Academic Performance:
75% Fee concession is allowed to students with major
disability and 50% to students with minor disability. Such a
concession requires maintaining a CGPA of 3.5 To 3.8 in both
cases.
Kinship:
25% fee concession on basis of kinship is also available to
siblings. This concession is subject to maintaining a CGPA of
2.67 in the subsequent semesters.

(MIS) network spread in all campuses of Punjab Colleges, in its
branches and University campuses in all over the Pakistan.
Main server of this system is in Lahore.
UCP use the software Campus management system (CMS)
It is powered by tower technologies.
Current manager of MIS in UCP is Kamran Ali.
It makes management more efficient and easy, it saves time and
labor cost .
It can efficiently access students to their source of needed
information.
