The document discusses the differences between home-made foods and fast foods. It argues that home-made foods are better than fast foods for several reasons: 1) Home-made foods are more nutritious because they contain a variety of nutrients and can be prepared to retain nutrients, while fast foods often lack nutritional variety. 2) Home-made foods pose lower health risks than fast foods, which are often high in fat, calories, and chemicals. 3) Home-made foods are cheaper than fast foods in the long run, even though fast foods seem inexpensive, because the small portions of fast food add up to more than one home-cooked meal.
1. Home Made Food is Better than Fast Food
In the recent years, there has been an increased consumption of fast food as compared
to home-made food. Fast food is a term that refers to food that is prepared and served quickly.
Such food is commonly served in stands, kiosks or fast food restaurants. Conversely, home
made food is a term given to food that has been prepared at home. Apparently, people’s
preference has significantly shifted towards fast food at the expense of home-made food. This
has aroused diverse views from various people. As much as fast-food diets have the benefit of
being more convenient, nutritionists have raised concerns about their compromised nutritional
value as well as their detrimental effects on human health. On the contrary, home-made foods
have been hailed for their high nutritional value, low health risks as well as significantly low
cost. Thus, it is evident that home-made foods are far much better than fast foods.
One primary advantage of home-made foods over fast food lies in the nutritional
variety. In this regard, it is apparent that fast foods lack nutritional variety. On the other hand,
home made foods are highly nutritious. Meals that are prepared at home are closely monitored
so as to retain as much nutrients as possible. Besides, when meals are prepared are prepared at
home, it becomes easier to blend a variety of foods so as to incorporate a wide range of
nutritional components such as proteins, vitamins and carbohydrates. In my culture, home-
made food is highly esteemed as compared with fast food. Therefore, our culture tends to
promote the consumption of home-made food. It is therefore the responsibility of parents to
ensure that they teach their children how to cook a wide range of foods. This ensures than as
they grow up, the children are acquainted with the prerequisite cooking skills and are able to
prepare healthy and nutritious home-made foods. As such, my culture nurtures the preference
for home-made food over fast foods.
Fast foods are widely known to compromise on the health of those who consume
them. In this regard, these foods contain large amounts of oils, fats, carbohydrates and
2. calories. Thus, such foods cause a high risk of diabetes, hypertension, obesity as well as heart
attack, among other. In some instances, the hygienic conditions within which fast foods are
prepared are questionable. Conversely when preparing home-made foods, it becomes possible
to monitor and regulates the amount of fats, carbohydrates and oil in such food. In this regard,
home-made foods are healthier than fast foods.
Home-made foods are significantly cheaper than fast foods. Various studies have
unveiled that it is not as cheap as it seems to consume fast foods at the expense of home-
cooked foods. It should be noted that fast foods are usually offered for commercial purpose.
This way, the sellers of fast foods always aim at making profits. Generally, we tend to believe
that fat meals are less expensive as compares to home-made foods. However, it is evident that
the small portions of value-priced fast foods eventually end up valuing more than a single
home cooked meal. Consequently, it becomes more expensive to purchase fast foods as
compared to hoe-made meals.
Most fasts foods are compounded with a wide variety of chemicals especially those
used as preservatives. This makes food toxic and may become hazardous to human health. On
the other hand, when preparing home-made foods, it is possible to cook fresh foods that have
not been chemically preserved. This has an implication that home-made foods are safer and
healthier as compared with fast foods.
In conclusion, home-made foods have a wide range of benefits as compared to fast
foods. Besides being healthy and nutritious, home-made foods are less costly. It can therefore
be asserted that home-made foods are better than fast foods.
