2. Purpose
The purpose of Game of
Thrones is to entertain the
audience by creating a
world in which the show is
set and making it feel so
real with endless detail and
characters. Having all the
law and characters makes
viewers become hooked in
and almost transfixed on
the show which means that
they will continue to watch
and probably won’t stop
viewing the show.
3. Purpose
The other main purpose of the show is to make money
and this comes even because by focusing on their main
purpose to entertain they will get viewers who will watch
the show and because they enjoy it they may buy the box
sets or any of the merchandise which will give the
creators a lot of money and will also mean that they are
more lightly to watch other shows created by HBO and
then they can make even more money from that.
4. Form
Game of thrones is a good
example of long form TV as
each episode is a hour long
and the show is put out in
series consisting of 10
episodes in each season. The
main themes of the show are
violence and corruption. The
mood of the show varies but
normally it is quite depressing
and dark. The biggest theme in
the show is about the
corruption of power as all of the
people that are in power tend to
5. Content – Key Characters
The third son of Tywin
Lannister (who is one
of the richest men in
Westeros). Tyron is a
midget and because
of this difference he is
bullied by almost
every character on the
show. His mother died
giving birth to him so
his sister (the queen)
and father hate him.
Tyrion Lannister
6. Content – Key Characters
One of the airs to the
iron throne of who was
smuggled out of the
capital during the
rebellion of the people
where her father (the
mad king) was killed and
a new king took his place
(Robert Barathion). She
is on a quest to build up
an army and take back
the throne.
Daenerys
Targaryen
7. Content – Key Character
The illegitimate son of
Eduard Stark (the hand
of the king and ruler of
the north. Jon is
constantly mocked and
ridiculed for being a
“bastard” and he serves
as a man of the nights
watch at the wall in the
north where he serves to
protect the realm from
what lies beyond the
wall
Jon
Snow
8. Content - Location
The Show is set in the fantasy world of
Westeros and follows a lot of different
characters in different locations but
the main locations that we get to see
all the way through the show are
Kings landing the capital city of the
world which is conveyed as a large
city with a lot of poor people and as
quite a hot location. The second
location we see all the way through
the show is the wall in the north which
is an icy huge world at the edge of the
western world and all that lies beyond
it is an icy wasteland filled with White
Walkers and Wildlings.
9. Target Audience
The show has been given an 18 age
rating but because it is released on
pay to view tv programmes it can be
seen by people that are younger and
as a result the show is very popular
with people between the ages of 15 -
18 but i believe with the graphic
violence and sexual scenes in the
show it is targeted at an older
audience probably people of the age
of twenty and onwards.
10. Meaning
Game of thrones being set in a fantasy
world means that it shouldn't make any
about our society but the show has
actually created this world where the
society is similar to the society that we
live in and the show actually has some
correlation between our society and the
people in the show. One theme of the
show is that the rich discriminate the
poor and this is a common them of
today and the past as many rich
companies abuse their power and
instead helping others they actually use
them to make money with out
benefitting the poor that much.
12. Frequency
Game of thrones is released in seasons
consisting of 10 episodes and each
episode lasts around 50 minutes. A
season is released once a year and they
normally start in April and finish towards
the end of June. To watch the show I
would say that you need to watch it in
order as you need to understand what
has happened in the past to have any
idea about who the characters and what
they have done.
